I recently purchases the Eclipse AVN4430 double din head unit for my Yaris and was wondering if anyone knew how to do the video bypass while driving? I read that the other Eclipse AVN head units only require you to ground the brake wire. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks.

I don't know of any current models that still allow that simple hack. Hopefully yours is. Here's a pricey hack from everyone's favorite... E-Bay!

how would the head unit know one way or the other? There is a wire somewhere attached to the shift column. find and ground that wire.

If you can post a diagram of the harness for it.

HU's got a little more complicated that the simple ground the parking brake sensing line a few years ago... even so there may be a few that that will still work on... I think the common method now looks for a transition from parking brake on to parking brake off. Grounding the wire would just give the condition of parking brake off. Some hacks involve splicing in a switch to toggle to fake the HU out... others use a monostable multivibrator (i.e. 555 timer) to trick the HU.

Thanks. I'll let you know what works when I get the chance to install my HU. Just wanted some tips first.

if you can post the wiring diagram for your head unit I can tell you one way or another.

I found this thread and the guy said he just grounded the parking wire to disable it...

I have a pioneer avic in my car and all I did was connect a toggle switch to the cable that should connect to the ebrake and at the flip of the switch video on video off

the new avic software reads the gps and will not let you watch while driving.

Which model? I know the older ones let you do that.
