"October Yaris Of The Month"

Ok so i guess ill just start this up and have a Mod sticky it..So the YOTM will be at the end of Each month, Voting will begin 7 days prior to the Month ending so that gives everyone a week to vote and the whole month for them to check the cars out, the submissions must be posted up the General Section in the YOTM thread within 2 weeks of the thread being created! It will be combined LB/Sedan, Voting will end at Midnight on the last day of the Month! We will start it Off with October YOTM! A Poll will be put up, everyone will cast their vote. Here is what each submission will need.

These will be the classes for the YOTM in each category each winner will be asked questions about their car after they win and have their favorite picture and car info put up in the YOTM thread for YOTM in their class.

Classes
a). Unmodded ( Nothing done, the way it came from the factory)
b). Slightly Modded (i.e wheels , tips and anything cosmetic)
c). Heavily Modded (i.e turbos, single seaters, race ready, etc)


:Please Read Rules: You can only vote one time, people caught cheating with votes will be removed from the contest. People who enter cant vote for their car, this makes things alittle more fair. You have 7 days to vote, if your late then o'well wait until next month! You have to submit your ride within the first 2 weeks of the month! You can shoot photos anywhere you would like too! The last rule!!! Have fun and good luck to everyone!

Shots can be in a driveway if you like, but some people look at how good your photos are so remember that!

1) :thumbsup: for taking the initiative to get this done. A couple of hours ago, we were just taking about it. Now, there is something going. Good job!

2) could we have a dedicated thread with JUST the submissions, because if you have submissions and 300 comments cluttering the thread (including stuff like ^ :laughabove: or whatever) then it'll be a pain to get through it, I DNK, just a thought.

3) not sure how I feel about voting but it sure is easy to stick a poll and have people click on it. Maybe we could try voting and see how that goes?

4) decide on a set of criteria that makes a Yaris the best candidate for "Yaris of the Month" and maybe give these guidelines with the poll so people know what to take into consideratin when they're voting? Just a thought.

6) the various categories yarii can give hope to anyone. I like it. (never really thought I'd win while competing with Etimago, Garm, etc., ;)

members nominate Members and cars 1st week of the month
Nomine's submit photo's by the end of the 2nd week
3rd week we get too look at photo's
4th week we get to vote
takes a lot of pressure of the mod's in forming voting and photos

dont think nominations cause favoritism but a secret pm style nomination and secret voting system would probably end up being the most ideal

speaking for myself only, i feel like there should be no categories, no voting, no photo quality stipulations...no complications...

Good to see everything is going well! My stomach sunk today when i pick up the new modified mag and Bryan Higgins (Area47s) Cobalt in there with 4 pages!!! I was the one who got his car put in that mag, they did the photoshoot in st.louis it was by RDM, I used to talk to Jason Tarach the editor there quite often about getting Cobalts in the Mag, well i set Bryan up with a guy named Tracy who came out to Chicago last year to the CED meet and after he saw Bryans car he asked me to make the decision to proceed to get the car in the mag and they sent the pics in and Modified said lets do it. Im so pissed cause he didnt mention my name!!! My day is Ruined....I think Garms car could get in an Issue, i was going to see if i could set something up for him in the future for one of their guys to shoot his car and get some info on it. First i would need pics to email David to see if he would even go for it. You guys will find out how much i actually am involved in with the car scene in the future, hehe.

ii think it should all be based on how the shot gets taken =D, i mean it would be unfair if only the heavily modded won... so it matters on how nice of a shot you can get your yaris in, be creative. Use the church,field, mountainside, Guardrail, hotel, Forest, Tree, Beach, parking garage, etc, as ur background, take the picture in the right angle with the right lighting and bam and then of course u gotta make a bio about yourself when u win the month

The first go-round it wasn't the super heavily modded that won every time. Kaotic Lazagna won one of the months. His car isn't over-the-top. He just takes really good pictures.

Just make one YOTM and be done with it. Having a stock class for a ride of the month competition is absolutely hilarious. My two cents. Its your guys' baby.

i do like the idea of 3 yotm but realistically, no one does that.

why dont we just make it clear that even though there is one class, everyone still has an equal chance.

picture quality really does matter. on SVrider.com i used to see mediocre sv650s win all the time because of amazing pics over the really really nice ones.

also, if you win yotm, its more prestigious if only one gets elected each month instead of 3.

no, you're right, it's not that tedious but, i just think so much back and forth went on while setting it all up; about pics having a big imact on voting (or not), who votes (or no voting), etc etc etc, that it just burned it a little before it even got started...

in order to submit i'd have to wash my car (i do this often anyway, granted, but need a wash now), i'd have to snap new pics to make sure i'm not using the same ones i have in my garage (which don't show off my B-awesome short antenna that Jeff gave me lmao jk) and then i'd have to fill out the questionaire...again, not that tedious but, more than i'm making time to do right now lol...

i think this is why Garm and I were so much in favor of a simple system with no voting, just to keep it fun and put a little extra attention on different members each month...don't want to be a negative nancy (lame ass cliche that's so funny to me LOL) but, i think (based on the lack of submissions) that most people are kinda 'eh' about the whole thing...

I hear you loud and clear and don't disagree with you but I think people stopped paying attention mostly because of the timing of this thing and got distracted with all the other stuff going on in the forum, but it's probably time we get it back on track.

Wait a minute.. sh*%t!!! I think we commented in the wrong thread!!! Arrghhhh!!! I think you're right, the current system isn't all that user friendly.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here so let me check with the mods and the posters who started the thread and see if they're OK with a simpler system, like 1 sticky thread with a poll on top or something like that so people don't have to scratch their heads and wonder what thread to vote in or comment in whatever.
