I noticed tonight while I was driving that when I turned the dimmer switch all the way up that the backlighting for the tach and speedo turns off and the LCD display and shift indicator lights got brighter. I this what its supposed to do? The manual says

"With the dial turned fully up, the intensity of the instrument panel lights will not be reduced even when the tail lights/headlights are turned on."

Not sure what that means. What does yours do? I have a sedan with the power package.

so........not one person has a dimmer switch on their Yaris? All I am asking is what your dimmer switch does when you turn it all the way up.

Cool, thanks, just wanted to make sure there wasn't something wrong with it. I hate taking cars in for repairs even if its covered under warrenty. Such a hassle.
