September 1, 2009 while I was driving north on I-89 I saw a Prius that had flipped and rolled a few times upside down on it's roof...... all the air bags deployed...... dead prius but passenger's were okay.

2 hours later I was driving south on the same road I-89 and much to my horror I saw a blazing blue Yaris that had been hit and bounced off the guard rail on the right and ended up hitting the guardrail on the left head on..... airbags deplyed and the driver and passenger were standing outside the Yaris...... the Yaris was dead:frown:

Seems like the end of the summer run to get in the accidents before the Labor Day rush.

Well as a positive spin on this, all occupants of the vehicles were outside and OK!

Any of us could be.

Without knowing the circumstances of the accidents or contributing factors. Texting, speeding, cell phones, or other distractions. Even if the Toyotas weren’t at fault, a defensive driver might have avoided an accident.

Not always. Around here especially, for every defensive driver there's always 2 offensive ones. You could be attentively and safely driving the speed limit down a small residential street and your car could still get totaled. It's ridiculous

Maybe you could avoid a crash in some given situation, but like I said, any of us including you may be next. Being alert is definitely a good thing.

Well from what I saw it appears as if the Prius snagged the left shoulder and over corrected and got launched when he hit the roadway.

The Yaris accident was right by heavy merging traffic and I think it got clipped.

Saw thread title and figured I was going to be reading an announcement that Toyota is dropping 2 models.
