These headlights have been around for awhile and i know a few threads have been covered about it. I was thinking of buying them, i know some people have said the light output was bad and some say its abit better then stock.

Anyway i was told by a fellow member that because we have to use the old indicator socket from the Original Assembly that the Australian sockets are of a different size of that of the ones being sold, which i think are mainly from Taiwan or something. As he has to use another method to hold his in place.

The question is to the people who own these lights, have you had any issues getting the indicator socket/bulb to go into place without having to glue or stick it to hold it there.

And generally is there a specific seller people have been buying from? I've noticed some stores sell slightly different looking ones sometimes.

Thank you in advance. I know some people don't like the idea of buying these lights. Haha.

the turn signal socket has 3 tabs in some places and 4 tabs in others. I can post more when I'm at my shop on Tuesday and can look at my stock sockets.

Thanks for the info Garm. I think what someone i was talking to was saying was the actually the bulb fitting into the hole thing on the top where the bulb goes in.

I think your talking about the actual plug that goes into the power socket thing.

Sorry i think i explained it incorrectly before.

Haha Ray, they would be good. But i'm also not keen on opening up my own headlight housing and doing my own DIY. Haha. Would be good to paint the inside black.

Anyway yeh maybe i needa get a different bulb.

This is what i was told and i quote:

Re: Black Projectors

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What i mean. Everything fits well except the turning signal bulbs.

The socket where you insert the turning signal bulbs are different. I tried for about 1 hour to insert the turning bulbs into the headlights, doesnt fit. So you have to somehow glue them down in the socket. I used blutack....

Oh ok awesome. Yeah im mainly just using the Headlights most likely. My friend will be taking the taillights.

Would have been better if they were the plain RS taillights. But yeh, will see how they look in real life.

Mine were posted out today, ETA says next week 18th. But will see if it updates tommorow.

Just a fyi on thoese. I bought as set and they looked great and still look ok, but after about 3 months in the texas sun the UV coating on them started to come off and they are not as glossy now. so this k=might happen to you and then again it might not. I do know I will have to go over mine with some polishing compound to get the luster back in them. One the light output with the stock bulbs they came with it was a lot less then the stock headlight assemblies. But since I also bought a HID kit for them (and yes I have them all adjusted right so i not blinding anyone.) they are really nice now.

just installed it 2 days ago. Adjusting the projector beam was kinda annoying though. Install was easy as hell though and brightness isn't too bad. I think they're just slightly less bright than stock but not too much where you'd complain about it.

No connector problems, people have problems fitting the turn signal. Mine fit in fine... used the stock bulb and plug. Sorry if I'm thread jacking lol.

Looks great on black, kuyachris84. Good that it worked out well and didn't have problems. I should be getting mine next week sometime, as its still somewhere on the courier. Hopefully i don't run into any issues then.

How bright are the the LEDs? I prob won't connect those as it might attract the cops. lol.

Do you have a close up photo of how big your turn signal bulb is? like shape wise? Thanks

I'll take a close up pic tomorrow... i just used the stock turn signal bulbs but they're the same shape and size of what you get with the head lights. I was thinking of putting the 1157 clear bulb but already have clear turn signals in the back... more clear turn signals and i'm guaranteed to be pulled over lol.

The LED's are white and are facing to the fount of the car so are perfectly legal in all stats. only if u changes there color to anything other then white or yellow they become illegal

Ok so i've installed these, love the look. But tried them out tonight with the original cutoff.

Do people think this cutoff is to high?

Im guessing projectors project the light in a different way. I noticed that when i'm up close to something i can see the beams clear. But once your furthur away from the vechicle ahead of you it kinda spreads out and gets furthur in distance.

When im behind a car it seems that the lights shine roughly almost near where their boot ends. E.g on a Sedan boot.

Do people that have these lights adjust them by those long screw things? Is it just a matter of turning it closewise and anti-clockwise for higher and lower? I couldn't turn them with my hand. So im guessing people need to use a screwdriver?

This is my cutoff shining at the garage door without changing anything yet.

Basically are projectors meant to spread out more then normal lights as in less focus. This is the first time i've had projectors. I could be aimed to high.

Even after I put my HID in them I had to adjust them a little. And let me warn you since the did not put the adjusters on a vertical and horizontal it a pain to adjust they pot the adjustment on the diagonal so you have to take a headlight out adjust put it back and look, repeat this about 20 times and you will get it were it needs to be.

yeah i had to do this a bunch of times behind my mom's suv and my brother's sedan to get the right adjustment as not to blind the hell out of other people. The long screws (2 of them) are for adjusting the high beam. The small screws.. there's 2 of them ... are used to adjust the projectors.

And yes, I do think you're right one is a little high. The left one seems fine.

Hrmmm thanks for the reply. That kinda sucks that you have to remove it and adjust. As my driveway isn't flat and i can't excatly start taking my bumper off at some random place at night. Unless i goto some friends house to do it haha.

I'll see what i can do. Damn why does it have to be so much hassle.

There's the two flater screws for the low beam. Is the visable one from the engine bay side by any chance the one that adjusts the height? Or is the one furthur in which requires removing the bumper the one that adjusts the height?

I can't test it out right now as i'm at work :P haha

Midon
09-23-2009, 12:34 AM
they both adjust height since they work by adjusting the beam on a diagonal angle you will have to adjust both which requires pulling the headlight out adjust and place it back and then look. I know it sucks and I have no clue why they did it on the diagonal instead of horizontal and vertical

don't u wish it were just one screw for up and down? and another screw for left and right? But nooooooo.... it works in diagonals!

Got my cutoff fixed. Took about 1-2hrs. Taking off the bumper like 5times. I can finally see beams on the road. Haha. Much better visability. Thanks to a friend that helped me out. Damn these projectors are tricky.
