Welcome to YW. For comparison, I sat in the rear of a 2010 Corolla S with the front seat all the way back, and it was pretty much the same as my Yaris sedan with the front seats all the way back.

it is the higher seat position that makes you think it has less leg room...

I have relatively long legs, and I have my seat all the way back, seat back is partially reclined. Very comfortable.
my friend who is very tall six feet plus. sat in the back of my yaris and i had my seat all the way back and it was just touching his knees. than he sat in the passanger seat.he looked over at me and said " you spent half as much as I did two years ago and your car has more room inside than mine". he bought a 2007 honda civic fully loded. well then Itold him how much gas milage I am getting he huffed!!!

I'm 6'4" and don't need anymore length.... unless you are all legs, even up to 6'6" I would think would be able to fit in the yaris fine.
I drive hatch... sedan probably feels different.
