I know this isn't really the place to be asking this, but I'm desperate. I've been looking for a new job for a little while but school has started again, and it's going to be impossible to go to work full time and to school and look for a job. I'm a damn good computer tech, best on my shift, possibly best in my building, but the employees in this company are treated horribly. I've been with the company 5 years now, and I getting fed up with the lousy treatment. Morale at this company has always been awful, as the management always punishes first and asks questions later. The turnover used to be very high, before the economy went bad. Now the employees have no where to go, and the management knows it.

Inter-company politics and butt kissing are what gets people promoted, and I refuse to suck up, rather than be judged on my abilities. I've been very loyal to a fault to this and every company I've ever worked for, but I want a career not just a job. I want room for advancement, not a dead end job where no one in the entire department gets a raise for at least 5 years.

I'm a computer geek with 12+ years of experience supporting desktop PCs hardware and software. I'm also a problem solver and systems analyst who is very good at finding, and fixing inefficiencies in whatever position I'm in. I can also write some code in Python, Visual Basic, and XHTML. I'm an expert in Windows support, and have experience in various distributions of Linux.

I know it's a long shot asking about this here, but Dice.com and Monster.com don't seem to be helping me, so I thought I would ask. If any one knows of a position I'd be good for, please let me know here or in a PM. YW has always came through for me with my car, maybe you guys can help me with this too? (If it's not car related enough for you, I can tell you it will help with my car payments )

Sorry, I DNK. I enjoyed reading your post though b/c believe me, this is an all too familiar song. During a recession, jobs are much harder for the people who have them and management can become real @ssholes, because they know they can. I won't bore you with the details but you're not alone, believe me. :/ Monster s9cks, I really don't know how their db works because they always send the wrong jobs, located 3 states away. Out here I use Craigslist, that's what works best for me, but right now there are too many people looking and not enough jobs, so I'm laying low and sucking it in, I guess. Good luck anyway, just wanted to leave a word of encouragement.

A friend of mine asked me the same thing 2 hours ago on the phone :(

When my job drives me up the F'ing wall, I

- read new Dilbert jokes online
- go on Craigslist and look at job postings, then look at the "free stuff" thread for some reason, that thread always cracks me up, it's just amazing what people throw away.
- watch Office Space (yes, again)
-
...

hang in there, man

Well I got a new job today. It starts on the 9th. It's not my dream job but, being as loyal as I am, and seeing how the pay is almost as much as my last job, once it starts I'll more than likely be with them for a long time. I appreciate everyone who checked out this thread and tried to help, so thank you :respekt:. I'm still open to another job but it would have to be a better job and start before Nov. 9th or be such a better job (better pay, more up my alley) that I cannot refuse it. So I'm still looking, but the situation has changed...

Thanks

It's a call center customer support job. I have a lot of experience doing that kind of work, and I'm really good at it, but I really would like a job in computer networking and/or security... I'm going to school for a Computer Information Technology BA so I can be a systems analyst someday, but in the mean time an IT job would be preferred.
