Well... not exactly but....

365 motorwerks is selling a xB manifold + downpipe + turbo for $850

This would make for great start point for the people looking to go custom...

Just thought someone might be interested.

You'll have to toss the downpipe and make a new one -- which renders it not quite as cheap. The xB downpipe hits our subframe, at least it did mine.

Secondly, what kind of turbo is included in that kit? I don't think it could be a Garrett at that price!

why throw out the downpipe? it's a cut/weld away from fitting just fine

why cut and weld when you can use a BFH

it's a good deal!

Most people would have to pay for that modification. It's not one cut and one weld. It would be each person's choice to do that or make a new one. My POINT was that it won't bolt on and fit on a Yaris as is.

Tamago

fair enough. but someone who's gonna "bolt this on" themselves probably knows someone with a 3" cutting wheel and a welder lol..

if not, god pity that poor 1nzfe

CASTREX

... Yeah is not 100% bolt on.

But as Tamago has stated before the modification of the downpipe is not that complicated.

Although this one is pretty similar to the TurboToyotas Down pipe that Garm tossed away... is not the same. So if some one gets this for a Yaris it would have to do a test fit to determine how much should be modified...

Anyway, this is for a DIY'er... for some one looking to piece his own kit. This would get him going!

cali yaris
09-09-2009, 04:57 PM
it sure would. and yes, I believe that is the same downpipe I had. (gave it to someone on here, as I recall)

And I agree with Tamago, if you can't do it yourself, you should have some good friends... with tools... and a lift..... and more tools.

Just to clarify... this is not a take off from a turbo toyotas kit. This is from a kit that 365motorworks developed for the xb1.

Their FULL kit is close to $4K if I remember correctly and it comes with management, injectors and everything...

anyway... a good deal.

I'm sure if you want to buy the 3 parts you could probably negotiate a better price.

Don't let it pass!

Kinda archaic, no?

Kinda archaic, no?

Are you kidding! the BFH is my favorite tool... it gets the job done when no other "modern" tool can...

Just the other day I fixed a bad tire rubbing problem in my AE86... 10 minutes of gentle fender massaging with the BFH solved the problem for good.

Back to the downpipe... if the clearance problem is not that big it could be force bended...

MY ZIP IS 77051, AND TRUST ME IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THE YARII AWHILE DONT PUT THE E BAY CRAP ON YOUR CAR UNLESS IT IS A TRUSTED NAME LIKE TURBO TOYOTAS OR 365 MOTORWERKS. YOU ARE BETTER OFF PIECEING TOGETHER YOUR OWN TURBO KIT LIKE IM DOING NOW, AND RUNNING A LOW CONSISTENT BOOST PRESSURE.

You can't properly boost the Yaris (or any car for that matter) for $500. Please don't attempt to.

That was only one part...

Cool. I wouldn't expect a bolt on kit for the Yaris to go for less than 5k. Even then, it'd probably be less than complete. DIY? A little less but a ton more headache. You better know what you're doing before you get into a project like this.

Yeah I hear you, I have the proper support. Thats why I am not jumping into it either. Its costly and bad if not done right. So for now I am working on suspension and lightening. I have already take seat out and some other stuff, and I am trying to see what the next thing I should do is.... I was thinking pullies or sway bar/springs first.

If your ultimate goal is to go FI, I'd say leave everything under the hood stock. Once you go boost, whatever you do for N/A will be for naught.

chongopants
09-10-2009, 06:13 PM
Yeah so just wait til I can do FI, so I dont waste cash? But I am trying to weight which I would rather do, FI is $$$ and lotsa work... otherwise I could do a little at the time....

TRUST ME CHONGO IF YOU COULD HAVE FOUND TWO TURBOS LIKE I DID THE FIRST TIME IT WOULD NOT BE HARD TO START PIECEING TOGETHER YOUR OWN TURBO KIT I JUST HAVE A FEW PIECES FOR NOW BUT ITS SLOWLY COMMING TOGETHER. I HAVE KNOW DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT YOU WILL START GETTING YOUR TOGETHER REAL SOON.

Could someone PM me with a list of what all I will need to get? This will be my first turbo... other than the obvious... what do I need? Like replacement oil pan? or do you drill/tap your own?

jt258

GO TO 365 MOTORWERKS GET AN OIL FILTER SANDWICH BLOCK AND THAT SHOULD KEEP YOU FROM OIL PAN.

WE WILL PUT OUR HEADS TOGETHER ON HOW TO PUT THE TURBO KIT TOGETHER FOR YOU MAN. IT JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT AND HOW YOU WANT IT.

As an oil return line from the turbo? I don't think so.

jt258: your interest in FI with regards to the Yaris is noted and appreciated but I do have a small request: Can you not use capslock in your posts? I feel like someone is yelling in a very quiet room when I read everything in all caps.

the oil sandwich plate is great for a feed as well as a pressure sensor, but i dont think so for a return. But where would you tap in also for coolant?

Go ahead and do it then. Let us know how it goes. I'll just leave it at that.

You can tap your own. Buying an aftermarket one isn't necessary unless you got money to blow.

well im just curious to know because i will be the first one to tell you that dont know everything, but i know a few things about turbo cars.

jt258
09-11-2009, 05:57 PM
those few things dont include how to route oil and coolant lines for a turbocharged engine.

jt258
09-11-2009, 05:58 PM
and where to put them on a yaris engine.

cali yaris
09-11-2009, 06:04 PM
^ got it, no problem.

The oil sandwich is oil under pressure, it won't work for a return line. That is why you tap into the pan. I welded a nipple onto mine, it's easy to do or have someone do for you. You want the oil return line to be as high up as possible, you do not want oil creeping back up into the turbo (due to pressure, level or crank windage).
