whats sad is i already kill civics, and youll get prolly a lil more off of the 2zz, there is a white one running low 14's on the 1/4... n/a not bad i say

iThe Toyota ZZ engine family is a straight-4 piston engine series. The ZZ series uses an aluminum engine block and aluminum DOHC 4-valve cylinder heads, a first for Toyota. The valve camshafts are chain driven. The two 1.8 L members of the family, the 1ZZ and 2ZZ, use different bore and stroke. The former was optimized for economy and torque, while the latter is a "square" design optimized for high-RPM power. The ZZ family replaced the extremely popular cast-iron 4A engines

well the swap would have to be maybe a 1.8 from a corolla id not put a 1.5 in a corolla, lol. be kinda underpowered then, lol. but im sure there is alot of aftermarket for the 1,8 correct?

corolla isnt as light or as small as a yaris and doesnt handle as well.

they should've only made the yaris with an 1.0L engine damn it.. that way, the yaris would have stayed where it belongs... the economy class.

yeah like i 1.5L is sooo much beter then a 1.0,lol. and you have to give in some places. i dont think a 2.4 would even fit without a lot of modifacation to the frame and body. but with the right 1.8L you can do alot. the celica 1.8 is 180hp.

Look at a 2ZR-FE it is the motor from an xD and the Yaris TS I believe. All you would have to do is get the mounts and it "should" be a drop in. The motor has 130 HP there are bolt ons for it. It may not be as powerful but I believe in the long run it will be easier to do

then put the turbo kit on it... yay

dude the toyota guy here ddnt even know what a yaris TS is. and i think when i told him that i wasnt getting anything yet. he wasnt wanting to help me out with a test drive.
also my big question is whats the difference in a celica 1.8 and an xD 1.8 then you can figure out what can be changed to make the HP off the 130hp one.

09-11-2009, 10:53 PM
Do you mean the Corolla or Celica 1.8? Also the TS is not here in the US. The power difference is because they are 2 different seires motors. Corolla-1zz-fe.... xD-2zr-fe

well heres the thing someone told me that an engine swap had to be an engine that is as new or newer then the car you have. soooo i was thinking about learning how to turn the 130hp xD engine into the 180HP celica motor. im sure its the same internals but there has to be some difference to drop off like 50 HP. maybe timing and compression and there are stroker kits for the 1.8 and id like to make that power from a 1.8 then strianing with a 1.5.
lilredrocket
09-11-2009, 11:14 PM
Both the 1zz and the 2zr are 1.8 motors different just seires. A good thing about the 2zr is that you can bolt up the stock tranny the exhaust lines up. With the 1zz you will have to modify the frame to be able to fit the motor and different tranny. Both engines are current motors so I dont get your comment about new or newer motor?

i was thinking about a 97 celica 1.8 is all. way more aftermarket for that one. soooo the 2zr is the larger engine but same bolt patern as the yaris motor? sooo basically if you swap the yaris engine for a 2zr. and the 2zr will bolt up the the exhaust and the stock tranny. so are the heads the same as the 2zz?
lilredrocket
09-11-2009, 11:54 PM
Not sure about the heads but they are probably not going to be the same due to the fact that they are from different seires (zr...zz). Toyota doesn't usually make "lego" cars like Honda where you can take a motor from another car and use the same mounts without major modifications
Y@R15

The difference is you get some extra plastic glue on body bits and a couple of chrome S badges, for some its worth the extra $4k,makes them think their entry level econobox is fast and powerful:biggrin:

but, but, but, but those badges gibe me like 50 hp more, lol.
no but seriously with the 1.8L celica(180hp) engine tht lil econobox can run 14's and still get like 35MPG.
the 2009 corolla had the 1.8 with 150ish Hp and had a MPG rating of 29-36. sooo in a lighter car and you will be way faster and better gas milage.
puetato89
09-13-2009, 12:37 AM
yes in theory, IN THEORY,
Y@R15
09-13-2009, 12:57 AM
ok its all about wieght and power bro. the corolla is almost 800-1000lbs more then yaris so if the power of the corolla is 150hp and the MPG is 35-36 the yaris is 106 and the MPG is 36 soooo in theory youd have to think that a yaris with 150 hp would possibly get 36-40mpg and a really good 0-60,lol.
puetato89
09-13-2009, 01:01 AM
very true, but when you do a motor swap thats never the case, although MORE PWER!! but i want a 1.8 corolla motor (with it being purchased not stolen), Thieves FTL!!!

The 2zz and 1zz were ment to rev and makes it power in the high RPMs. Just about all the other motors make power at lower RPMs but get better gas mileage

what id love it to get one of these lil cars with a 1.8 in it with 200+ hp and drive up to a shop that werks on hondas and tell them i wanna race them with my gas saver.
also what is up with the 1990 celica with a 2.0 is it a turbo or just a N/A engine?
lilredrocket
09-14-2009, 01:08 AM
Garm has a 1NZ motor bored to a 1.6 that is pushing 310 hp on 109 octane so you just have to take your pick. Oh I just thought of this if you swap for a 1.8 liter out of a celica you are going to have to convert your car from "drive by wire" to "drive by cable"
puetato89

whats the difference? ive never heard of a drive by wire. but if i was going to swap motor id go all out.... unless(BTW) i get back from japan and they have the 1.5 built up severly by then or the come with 1.8s stock from toyota.
lilredrocket
09-14-2009, 01:19 AM
^ not sure if I get what you mean. Drive by wire is how the throttle butterfly is opened on the Yaris. You know most car if you want to rev them up from under the hood you just turn the pulley the the cable sits in well the Yaris doesn't have that. It is operated be electric signals from the modulator under the dash
Y@R15
09-14-2009, 01:24 AM
wow that really has to go. a tb is way better then a electric modulator and it has better responce. ill be happy to get rid of that and go throttal cable all day long.
