Hello,

I am thinking of buying the yaris. I was told by the lady at the local toyota that the 2010 wont be out until nov or dec 2009, and that they even wont even be made until oct 2009. She said to go for the 2009 as the interst rate and MSRP will be lower.

Right now the MSRP is 17975.00 for the 2009 hatchback 5-dr LE w/convience package. With subtotal before taxes being $19370.00, though she noted that as a new grad, i get $500 off and that toyota has a deal for $500 off as well, with 2.9% interest.

I am on the toyota website and from what i can gather the 2010 msrp is $17980.00, and 4.9% interest.

I am just wondering if the 2010 is better to wait on, or should i just get the 2009?

same writer as above:

do you think there could be any negotiating with the 2009? It is almost mid september and the lady at the dealership said they dont have a lot of 2009 yaris's left, and only 2 sedans. a friend of mine bought a nissan versa in april and they gave her 4 winter tires.

To be completely honest I walked out of the dealership with a brand new 07 Yaris and paid $12,500. Sure it came with only a steering wheel and air conditioning but it was worth the price cut in my opinion.

Then again you are in Canada but google is showing the exchange rate as pretty even at the moment.

I think the complete lack of availability due to cashforclunkers sucking up all the '08s and '09s and the fact that they didn't manufacture any more '09s because they're switching to '10 is really working against you.

That price looks mighty high. I paid less than that out the door for my 2008 Sedan with Aero Package and lot's of dealer installed options (see list below). Mine is a 5 speed though so that save me plenty.
