View Full Version : rim suggestions?

I've been doing a lot of searching lately. But being as I have no experience in choosing different rims than what came on the car when I bought it, I don't know what are the better quality brands. I'm also limited by price too. :frown:

What I'm looking for are 15", preferrably black rims, digging the 5- or 7-spoke style. I don't need them until next spring. I plan on running the snow tires on the stock wheels, and then the remaining seasons on the new wheels.

As far as price, my budget would allow me to have a max price of $380 shipped, but I'd rather keep it to around $250 (yeah I know, really limiting:frown:).

The other thing to, has anyone tried using the TPMS valve kit? I found it here (http://www.autopartsfair.com/toyota-exterior_parts/yaris-2009-tools_garage-tpms409s.html). Thoughts on it? I've heard of people bypassing the whole sensor factor. But my boyfriend would prefer me to still have it on new wheels since I drive mostly highway. This seems to be a cheaper alternative than say having Tirerack.com installing the sensors on rims if I buy from them, at $352 for the 4... I'm sure I could find a local tire shop to install them for me when I have them put the rubber on the new wheels... :iono:

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

250 shipped, good luck. a quality wheel should cost you around $100 each.

if you want to go that cheap, you'll have to buy used. craigslist is your best bet

Rota slipstreams brand new are in the low low 400s shipped, if you know where to look. I'm sure you can find used ones in your price range

I'll look for the website of new ones for you.

Thanks for the input thus far. I realize price is my issue right now. Brands to look for that are quality? If I choose to buy used, since that seems to be the only way I'll get something, it would be helpful to know specific brands that will hold up.

i got my set of rims there and tires from tirerack.

if money's an issue, i'd transfer your existing tpms sensors from your stock wheels to your new ones. when i had mine done, they didn't even have to resync it. just dropped them in and they worked fine. no rebuilding or anything. then when winter rolls around, you can get a set of sensors off ebay and have them resynced for your winter wheels.
