I know this has been discussed many times on here...but I did not find a definite answer to which one would lower your car more between the two springs for an LB. From what I have read, some people have stated that the Teins are lower than the Tanabe's...but some also said that Teins do not lower your car 1.9" and that the Tanabes will sag lower than the Teins. So, what is the real answer? I really am interested in purchasing some springs soon and I am done trying to find the answer to this. I want to find the lowest springs possible. Thanks yarisworld in advance!!

I believe the Tiens are lower from the get go but the DF210's will sag to about the same level. The DF210 spring rates are also lower than the Tiens so if your worried about botteming out get the Tiens. As for me I have the DF210's and got them because they were cheap when I got them and they lower the car very nicely.

Thanks lilredrocket. So, what about the handling between the two? Do the Tanabes perform better or the Teins?

If you are honestly concerned about a drop and not rubbing I'd go for coilovers. If you find them too pricey I say Tein FTW.

As far as handling goes, the stiffer and lower you can go and the better your handling. Good tires and the right complimentary mods help too.

An important question is what do you plan on doing with your car? Lower is not always better when racing like autocross. As for for cruising the streets the Tanabe's would be fine but Tien's will handle a tad better.

My plan for the car is to mildly modify it and mostly use it for street driving. I want my ride to be a little more on the stiffer side and hopefully the ride quality will be there too. Right now I am leaning more towards the Tein S-Tech's as both of you are saying that it is the better way to go.

The spring rate of the rears will make the most difference in your handling, so you want to get a spring set with a high rate in the rear. The teins are at 3.5 and the DFs are 2.1 in the rear. The fronts for both are at 3.

I love my S.Tech's. I'm lowered about 2 inches, but that's because I have a sedan. The Tanabe's should sag to about the same stance tho. However, they have a lower spring rate than the S.Tech's, so you might get rubbing in the rear.

There are also the AOE TigerTech springs that are about a 1.75 drop with 4k front and 3k rear. For the price you can't beat them but everyone will say tein, out of your 2 choices, unless you are buying the shocks with adjustable dampening.

Thanks for the help guys!!!! Initially I was determined to go for the Teins...now for sure I am ordering one of these. Also, like hafeez's question...do you guys get rubbing all the time with Teins or do you just get those issues over bumps?

Go for the teins. I have DF's and they are waaay too soft

I had DF's as well and I changed em out because they were too soft. I got the Megan's now and it's stiffer but I want it lower. So i'm still trying to find the right springs as well and it looks like it's either the Teins or the AOE TigerTechs.

I have the AOE's and I love em. They have the right blend of drop along with actual functionality.

i have tein s techs on my sedan and it lowered it a lot.

I used to be able to fit my fist and have a little space left between my tire and car...

Now I can only fit one finger

I'd say there is minimal wheel gap. Maybe a finger, finger and half gap..depending on how big of fingers you have. Like I said, it's a very tasteful drop. here, i'll post a pic for you. I think it's the perfect blend of looks because it's not a 4x4 and it's not slammed so low you need to worry if you'll still have an underbody on your car. Not to mention the performance of the springs is pretty b.a.

Did you end up cutting them after? Do you have any recent pics of it? I just want to see how they look after settling in. So the front is supposed to be lower i'm assuming?

That does look like a nice drop. How is the ride with them? I'm assuming you have Tokico Blues up front as well? Is there any bounce or just stiff? I had a little bounce with my Megan Springs w/ Tokico's up front.

I'd say the ride with them while they were breaking in was a little miserable because I drive alot of freeway, so it was bounce..bounce...AND AWAY! until they settled in. But I'm guessing that's with all springs and such during break in period. I do have blues up front as well.

The ride is perfect to me. Obviously it's stiffer than stock ride so when you turn or go over some bumps and cracks, it's definately firm but it's not so bad that you can't live with it. If there's a big bump, you just slow down a bit and go over it. It's a car with some "sports performance" parts in mind installed on it, not an off road truck. So you should drive it with that thought of mind anyway :)
