there are true halo's for sale over at oznium.com

i havent seen anyone upgrade the extremely crappy halo's in the depot/ebay headlights.

My halos are not working anymore, where can I find a replacement for them?

theyre just lit up by two crappy leds i believe, if youre any good at taking apart youre headlights you could do some minor surgery on them with say 6 white led's each for like 10 bucks and have really nice ones.

I agree the halos do suck.. and are only powered by 2 leds... but I think the projectors themselves do light up the road suffiently... not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

oh, and I don't think anyone has replaced them with neon halos or anything like that. ^^;

Yes, I need to know the diameter to buy them. Let me know if anybody knows the diameter. Do I need to open the headlight to replace them, right?

yes You do need to open you headlights to replace them. I plan on opening my set up to clean them and paint them flat white tomorrow so i will measure the size for the halo

and fyi to open them u will need a blow dryer to heat up the seals before you open them or you WILL crack and destroy the cover

Oven works better. Low heat, but even, and when you re-heat them you can use some of the factory silicone to seal with just a small bead of silicone to re-seal.

K the rain gone and it dried out a lot I going to try to get them done tonight. I will post the size as soon as i get the old halos pulled off. Me I think I going to mod the Led ones and find a way to add more led's to it. if i find a good way to do this I will post a DIY at the same Time I do a DIY on removing the lenses from the after market projectors.

that would be awesome.

If i feel brave enough ill be baking them etc and buffing out the clear coat that's peeling of and cleaning up the inside that's dusty and scratched from the also crappy seal job.

whats best to re-seal headlights for a guaranteed no moisture problem?

Midon

clear silicone

K i got the size you will need 80MM CCFL kit to do this. I am still working on the first headlight but as soon as I am finished I will do a DIY up. Just a word of advice after backing the headlight in the oven at 170 degrease for 10 min have an extra person there when u start to pry them apart.

guys when i was over at focusfanatics they did a DYI to replace the shitty leds with higher quality ones even other colors(illegal yes i know but i looks badass)
i doubt the assembly would be difficult but check this out.
there is no need to rid them if you can salvage them.http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117148

God these lights look awesome.
Apparently they're covered up by the actual HID lights when they go on full mode as well. Would love to get my lights a unique color like this when I get em on.

Any thoughts on these for those who have halo projector ring thingies in their lights?

BTW I pulled the picture from the focus forum that was linked.

all they did was replace the white leds with red they look good but very illegal to drive with them on.

If anyone wants there projectors cleaned up and has a day to kill just drive on up to me and I can do it. I know a lot of people are worried about breaking something. I can even solder new LED's in the halo rings or run EL wire behind the stock rings for a better glow. Either way if you need a hand and live close just let me know in a PM only thing I ask is buy me a drink on your way in I like Mountain Dew

So, all I need is get new 80MM CCFL and replace them? How much are they? Where can I find them? Or can I change the LEDs like they did to the Focus?

puetato89

i would say led replacement, its the easiest, fastest, cheapest was 2 go

Yes, But can we do that like they did to the Focus projector? I haven't see those leds on my halos anywhere.

puetato89

its where your actualy lights are i believe, after the rubber boot, thats a good question, lets see if midon will tell us

Midon
10-04-2009, 04:42 AM
all that person with the focus did was de-solder the white leds and solder on 2 red ones can be done in a few min i did that to mine and went with blue but they set to a switch since any color other then white and yellow is illegal to drive with them on facing out the front of the car

and to get to them it faster to pull the head light assembly out. you will see 2 big round rubber boots pry those off and u will see the wires going into the back of the halo. gently pull them out and then de-solder the 2 leds making sure to not there polarity and re-solder the ones you want then just reinstall takes 5min per headlight from removing it de-solder and reinstall
