Bringing it to the body shop today, see what the estimate is, and maybe get a modded hood:iono:

That's the cut in the vinyl to shape it behind the emblem

seriously... its hard to tell if there's damage to the bumper or possibly radiator, but everything but the hood looks untouched or salvageable. I'm especially surprised given the shape of the yaris it didn't flip up onto the windshield.

glad to hear you're ok.

Just the hood and bumper that I can see- though the hood is resting on the drivers side fender at the cowl, so I didn't open the hood to check anything else out cuz i would have dented the fender

Now that I look at it closer, I can see the edges. It actually looks better like that. You've got an "Xtreme Yaris" lol

But seriously, I'm surprised it didn't look any worse. I hope there was no mechanical damage

Venisson for everybody! j/k

glad you're OK, though.

Deer + car usually results more pronounced damage. I've seen cars completely totalled.
Hope it's not too expensive to fix.

BTW, good to see you back!

Will someone clarify what $3800 figure represents?

Is it

- your out-of-pocket, after deductible?
- estimate from the body shop?
- what your adjuster will contribute towards repair regardless of actual cost?

Insurance left a check for 3300 at the body shop for the repair. I have a 500 deductible. The ins. company has specified non-oem body parts (!) and "recycled" (!!) headlamps- body shop has told the adjuster (who agreed) that if the non-oem stuff doesn't fit right, the ins. co will purchase new oem parts, in addition to paying for the non-oem stuff. All I will be out of pocket is the 500 minus the price of the hood and the headlights, maybe 200-250

[shaking head]

Yep- it's in the policy that at the discretion of the ins. co. , non oem body parts may be used. My only recourse is that I have final approval of the repair. That and the body shop is pretty high end and probably more particular than most people would be

And the saga continues...

UPS picked up the damaged hood on Tuesday evening. Today, i receive a call from them asking me why they can't pick the damaged merchandise up. DOH! Calls between UPS So. Carolina and the UPS store outside of Dallas Texas where the shipment originated

Meanwhile, the replacement CF hood that I ordered on 16th and sprung for the two day shipping might have just arrived in Newark, NJ, either early this morning or about 3pm depending on who I speak to. I'm trying to arrange it so I can go pick it up, rather than wait until Monday, or whenever they feel like delivering it.

how fast were you going? doesn't look any faster than 20-25... i hit a deer at 35 in december. 5 weeks and $5600 later, i got my car back! radiator damage, hood, quarter panels, bumper, headlights, grille, and so much more. i have an itemized repair order sitting somewhere around the house.. it's a good 6 pages, if i remember correctly.
