A friend of mine road with me yesterday and starting giving me a bunch of grief because I wouldn't let him out. Turns out, the door wouldn't open from the inside? That's new.

Anyone else have this problem?

+1 Check the child lock switch on the edge of the door-they have a way of sneaking themselves on.

Wind the window down, pull the outside handle. Step out. Wind window back up and shut door.
What's so hard about that? Some of us don't even HAVE a back door... :biggrin:

lol i used to play with the child lock when my first car had child lock, back in 1993.

When i first read backdoor.. i was thinking about the hatch door, i was like, wtf you want to open that from the inside..

Though, the sedan's trunk have a trunk release from inside..

LMAO :clap::clap:

Actually, that was the first thing I thought of. The other door opens fine, it's just the rear passenger door won't open from the inside. Weird! I hope this isn't a bad sign or something. I don't have that much more to go and the car will be paid off. The commercial said 80% of all Toyota's sold within the last twenty years are still on the road. Of course the commercial didn't say anything about the doors still being functional.

Got to remember to read the small print.

It's the "child lock." Open the door and look by the locking mechanism on the door. There should be a switch. Also go back and read your own thread. You missed it.:laugh:

Haha ok. So I deliver parts as a part time job. We drive a different Nissan Versa every day. One day last week, I got a Versa I had never driven before. I got to my first stop... and I couldn't get out! I eventually climbed over the center console and out the passenger door. Come to find out, the driver's door just doesn't open from the inside. Obviously not a child-lock, the door just wont open from the inside! :thumbdown:

Ugh. I have more faith in the Yarii than that! Just flip that switch and I'm sure you will be fine.

Strange enough, i've seen SEVERAL 97-98 Corolla whose driver door couldn't open from the inside..
