Two Quick Questions:

1. Is it normal for my tires to turn brownish after using a Tire Shine product?

2. After it rains, or early in the morning, my breaks squeal like a pig wearing lipstick. Is that normal? It returns to quietness after a while.

1. Are you washing the tires before applying the tire shine? If the tire is dirty, it will show the dirt later.:frown:

2. What's the mileage on the brakes? Wear indicators will squeal like a pig. :eek:

Yes, I wash the tires, then apply the Tire Shine. The Car has 21,000 miles. The squeals have started since 15,000 miles

Yes, could be the drums needs to be cleaned. If you know how to take them apart, do so, and hit the drum against a plastic bag over cardboard, OUTSIDE, and do not breathe the stuff in that comes out.

Its probably just all the brake pad dust(the shoes).

take the front brakes apart, clean them with brake clean, put them back together, make sure to add some silicone to the caliper slides, and on the back sides of the shoes(the side away from the rotors), also, check to make sure that the rotor is not eaten up too much, and that the pads are not too thin...


on the other issue, my tires do the same thing, seems to be something similar to the tire shine oxidizing...

My tires turn brown when i use Armorall on my tires... they look great when first done, but after a week.. that's when it turns brown.

That's because of the silicone in the Armorall. Try another tire shine product.

Take a brush to those tires to get them extra clean before you put another product on them. I just did that recently and the tires look brand new.

I've actually noticed a buildup and light squeal from my front brakes! But same deal, just clean out the dust and it's good as new.

And as for not breathing the stuff in, brake pads aren't made with asbestos anymore. I mean, it's still not good to breathe that stuff in, but you don't have to go through the rebreathers and suits and the plastic sheilded containment zones to clean brakes, which is what needed to be done in the past. Thank god! If I had to go through all that... my brakes would just squeal all the time :smile:

Thanks for the advice guys. I can take the tire off the car, but how about the brakes? Is that an easy job? Something any amateur can do?

Captain,

1 My tires do that.

2 My brakes do that too and I only have about 4600 miles on them-it's probably from lack of use because you and I are always downshifting our autos to slow down :)
