i'm burning MP3 cd's and i have spent hours changing file info on every file of almost 700 folders, and about 8gb worth of music becuase i thought it would help.

what's happening is i have my playlist, and i edit it, change it, add to and remove from....and it's always in alphabetical order by artist. the way i want it. when i move list to burn list, it changes to some other order....so i click the options button and change it back to alphabetic artist. and it shows that way.

but when i play it on the cd it goes into some random order. folder 1 has like 50 songs on it all in a complete random order, folder 2 seems correct with most of the songs....and then down the line it all changes back to randomness. my linkin park is mixed with dave mathews and taylor swift. no matter what i do i cannot fix it.

i want my cd to burn just like my playlist is edited....in folder order of artist alphabetically. i dont care about sorting artists by album...i dont want it in number order, just by artist.

my suggestion is to use a better burn program than WMP.

you can also edit the id3 tags and assign track numbers that way the players will always play it in the order you want

awesome, thanks for the info :D

you can get freeware that can change all the mp3 tags internally as a batch job
or one at a time

need to hunt around for it

I am not that easy.

Ditch Windows burning method....

I use Nero, for the past 3 years, very reliable.

I had the same problem when I burned audio books. The damn chapters were all over the place.

Just get iTunes. You can arrange and burn playlists easily with it. You also get the option to have it automatically keep your music library and file names organized. I've been using it for years, and still no issues

ok, a little info.

i'm using WMP, i'm not using nero, itunes, realplayer, winamp, or any other burning software

i'm running vista pro home, only cuz my computer isnt backwards compatible with xp

i'm running wmp 10 i think....it's black, and newer looking.

i have edited the tags the only way i know how. when you hit properties it wont change info, i've had to select file, and at the bottom where the info is i've had to edit it there. it seems to change, and when i change it it automatically finds the file and relocates it to the appropriate file, which i like, and if i do the album info first, then the artist it'll actually put it within the subfolder too...cool.

any way, it seemed to work cuz now my playlist is in the order i want, but not my burn list.
