For a sedan type car it is designed to pull the manual trunk pop cable. For a liftback you'd still need something to actually pop the hatch. You could use something as simple as these spring poppers that are designed for shaved doors. Basically, you use the solenoid to "push" the hatch release button and then the spring poppers would lift it an inch or so, so that it doesn't just re-latch.

One of these days I am definitely going to do it with my LB. My remote starter remote has an unused button/output that is just prodding me to do it.

I always though a pop-trunk would be nice.... tho I'm young enough to say I shouldn't be that lazy.

It has nothing to do with laziness, but more to do with convenience.

Like if you've got your hands full w/ grocery bags and the ground is wet from rain.
