Why do we get 132HP vs the Corolla's 192hp and 7800 rpm redline ? What gives? It reads like the same engine on paper but wow what would I give for 192HP and 7.4 secs from 0 to 100kph instead of 9.3!

Can someone re-program our ECU to uncork this engine? I would be first in line. I love my car but 132hp on such a hi-tech engine is kinda like underpowered?

I want to beat a Mini Cooper S!!

Their completly different engines used in both cars. Even though it says 1.8L.

The Yaris TS uses the 2ZR-FE Engine and the Corolla TS uses the 2ZZ-GE Engine (VVTi-L).

I have raced 2 corolla TS and won... the 2zz is a torqueless engine and the Corolla TS is a heavy car...

... And I have clocked 7.5sec 0-60.

...and yeah... 2 completly different engines.

It will cost you a lot $$$$ to beat a Mini S. If that was your ultimate goal you didn't picked the right car...

hmm..not so heavy car ~1400kg compares to ~1280 (yaris TS weight)..maybe yes,it doesn't have an impressive torque buut..it is a very fast car..you can see on youtube how fast is corolla TS..it is really fast.and the TS with compressor..much better..when i bought yaris TS i was thinking to corolla TS but at the same price the Corolla TS was older then Yaris TS with 3-4 year :(.and the 4 door corolla Ts(compressor) are very rare and pretty expensive (15-20000Euro) and built year from 2005...

The Corolla has VVTL-i which is saying "VVT-i -plus- V-Tec". serious power upgrade. it basically
has a normal cam, and a radical cam,
and oil pressure changes cam timing -and- cam lobes simultaneously
(I won't go into the technical mumbo jumbo here)

Yaris doesn't have the added L-i (V-Tec)it just changes cam timing.

some power upgrade over a normal motor,
but not capable of doubling horsepower like V-tec does.

Here, learn about the three systems. VVT-i, Honda V-Tec, and Toyota VVtL-i
