Has anyone had a sunroof installed in their Yaris? I'm thinking of installing the Inalfa swing folding roof but don't know if it will cause any structural issues or too much flexing/rattling or, most afraid of, water leaking in.

WOW that looked really nice. The local place I contacted told me that "IF" the canvas folding one that I wanted were to fit it would cost $2600. Then they told me that a factory one that goes up and slides into the roof would cost $1300...I'll have to rethink this in the summer.

Yeah it really does. Plus it seems incredibly cheap, especially for a dealer install.
$2600 is outrageous, IMO.
$1300, uh IDK, I'd think about it a while.

Why do Toyota doesn't offer it? They told me it was relate to security. They couldn't cut in the roof frame..

I had a Webasto 730 power moon roof installed in mine by Attention to Detail, in Middletown, CT. They did an incredible job with the install and I haven't had any issues. The Webasto ones are designed to leak, and have a plastic tray beneath the gasket that catches the drops and routes them down through tubing that runs all the way down through the A pillars to the ground.

The dealer told me that it would make the roof too unstable to pass safety checks .... which made me think twice about wanting to get one. If I (God forbid) ever roll the Yaris, I want as much protection as I can get LOL - I was going to get a sunroof last summer, had it ordered and ready to go ... backed out at the last minute. I may get one again if I can prove somehow that it won't cause too much of a safety issue.

I've had a "pop-up" for over a year and no problems at all. $470, and probably the best "mod" I've done to date

Installed correctly, it will actually add strength to the roof. To install my moon roof they cut the cross member and bolted the moon roof's frame to it, so the end effect is that the roof is stiffer than it was prior.

How do you have the GPS mounted to the roof above the mirror?? I hadn't thought of placing mine there... It seems like it's more out of the way, yet still easily accessible...

@ Bobselectric: I love it!!!
That's a GREAT mod!! :thumbsup::thumbsup:
I hate using AC, so I'd rather have air circulating another way.
Well done, your ride looks tight :bow::bow::thumbsup: and thanks for fishing the pix outof your HD for us.
@ CT scott: Thank you for that answer. I was wondering if it would weaken the roof, too.

I removed the map lights and cut out the back of the plastic tray that they are mounted in. I then made a frame out of sheet metal to fit inside the hole, and cut up an old black t-shirt to cover the mount and hole. The Gps mount I double sided taped to the underside of the roof and viola!
The location is perfect for the GPS as it has a bluetooth for my cell phone, so I can talk hands free.
I then put a couple of LED strips in the sunroof opening to make up for losing the map lights
