As the topic says, the car will sometimes shut off while driving and a red light that says rs or ps it comes on to quick for me to read. ocasionally the check engine light comes on while it stalls. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks for ur help.

You drive a 2007 so unless you've run up a wack of miles, you're still under warranty. Get it in and have it looked at. Then come back and tell those of us no longer under warranty what the issue was.

clean the MAF sensor

that is the most likely and simple culprit

easy to eliminate as a cause

if ur under warranty def. take it in.
turn the key to ACC and i believe the dash lights will all glow, then u can find out which light u think it was-- check the manual then. i don't think something like that would show specifically tho- probably just an effect of the engine quitting out (maybe oil pressure drop?) which could be unrelated to the actual problem

air intake " might be really dirty and no air coming in during idle" or the sensor is my guess as well..

If the check engine light comes on you should be able to take it to auto zone, or some auto parts store and rent(for free) a code scanner, which will tell you in more detail what your problem is.

The MAF sensor and air intake would be good places to start as 127 and marcus said.

clean the throttle. a bad or slow IAC motor will cause a stall as ur coming down in speed. the IAC motor controls the throttle just a bit so when you snap it shut, the motor opens a small hole just a bit to allow the engine to breath. so if it's clogged...it's gonna die.

it's an easy fix...specially if there's an o-ring in there and not a gasket. best cleaned off the car, but you can do it on the car with some brake cleaner or carb cleaner. just keep that stuff off the maf and use an electronics cleaner on the maf.

The symptoms that you describe most likely would be a clogged iac valve. IE Idle air control valve. Due to carbon buildup. Remove the air box tubing assembly and spray carb cleaner liberally while someone presses the throttle inside the car. Key on engine off and whipe with a rag all the black soot. Try to look for any ports and spray carb cleaner in those as well.

If the maf was defective you would have a consistant check engine light code. Most likely for low air volume. Which could be caused also by a completely clogged air filter that has never been changed.

Try cleaning iac first its the most likely culprit on a vehicle that is newer but has a lot of miles in a short period of time.

Hi, do you know where the port on the TB the iacv is? Im trying to clean the TB without taking it off the car. Any tips on what i should try to target on the TB?

Also i noticed after cleaning that the butterfly seems to creak when playing with it with the pedal, is it normal? Or do i need to get a special lube or something?

Ps. Sorry to necro a thread, but ive cleaned the MAF (on the air filter cover) and TB with a carb cleaner and i still have intermittent idling issues, without a CEL.

TIA..
