LA MARQUE, Texas – A man blamed a low-flying pelican and a dropped cell phone for his veering his million-dollar sports car off a road and into a salt marsh near Galveston. The accident happened about 3 p.m. Wednesday on the frontage road of Interstate 45 northbound in La Marque, about 35 miles southeast of Houston.

The Lufkin, Texas, man told of driving his luxury, French-built Bugatti Veyron when the bird distracted him, said La Marque police Lt. Greg Gilchrist. The motorist dropped his cell phone, reached to pick it up and veered off the road and into the salt marsh. The car was half-submerged in the brine about 20 feet from the road when police arrived.

Gilchrist said he doesn't know if the car was salvageable, but in his words, "Salt water isn't good for anything." He says the man, whose identity hasn't been released, was not injured.

A 2006 Bugatti Veyron was recently offered for sale in Jonesboro, Ark., for $1.25 million.

Yeah he looks like a spoiled dork. If there was a small caption below the pic it would read: I might as well fish a little while I'm out here.

Because to them a brain costs too much, so the next best thing is a supercar to compensate

Look at the picture and look at the spoiler. It is extended in the up position. Two reasons it would be up would be that it was traveling faster than 130mph or remaining up after a hard run to cool the engine. Bird my ass....BUSTED!!!

why?

Yup. That is prolly the excuse for most of these supercar accidents. Blame anything so that you don't get busted for tripling the speed limit.

Just think, he could have had around 80-85 Yarii for the price of that one car!

That's what I was going to say! Or another way to look at it: about 4 Ferraris or Lamborghinis... so I really don't get why this car costs that much. :iono:

you're paying for the prestige and the piece of art. its great engineering
Of course, but the same could easily be said for the Ferraris and Lamborghinis that this costs about four times as much as. I understand that this car is even rarer than those cars, but this kind of money for a car is just insane. It's not worth 80 Yarises either.

Some actions should be punishable by death. this being one of them. what realy gets me is he didnt even try to recover that. It was like he was changing lanes or something.

Yeah.... (not) The original Bugatti ethos and philosophy was simplicity. All of his engine parts were either rectangular or cylindrical. Parts themselves were kept to a minumum, on the basis that if was was less TO go wrong, less WOULD. I don't see even a breath of that in the Veyron. Capitalising on someone else's name.... for profit.

Wouldn't mind being given one, though
