I'm embarking on a long journey to completely black out my interior and white out all my lights. In addition, I'll be adding some gadgets and whatsits and will detail when they are done. So far, I have:

Blacked out the arms of the door panels (plasti-dip)

Blacked out speedo trim piece and narrow side trim pieces of the AC cluster (dupli-color trim paint)

Blacked out AC Vent/Radio trim and climate cluster trim (Spray on truck bed liner)

Blacked out map light trim (plasti-dip)

Installed a bright white LED in each map light housing which comes on/fades out with the dome light (thanks CTScott for the help!), retained regular map light functionality

Installed LED dome light cluster and painted assembly black (plasti-dip)

Changed LED to super-bright white on driver's window switch and center door lock switch

Attempted (and failed) to recover driver's door with faux suede, will re-do with different material (looks out of place, and a little too thin)

My next piece I think will be to finish up the door fabric(s) and to install some ambient white LED lighting in out of the way places, some of which will come on like the LEDs in the map light assembly, some will stay on constantly. Right now, likely placement for such lighting is looking like the accessory pockets on either side of the AC cluster (pointing down), and in each kick panel pointed backward toward the floor board.

ugh, yesh, it sucked. i cut it the right size, but misjudged the lines and set the fabric off center and couldn't tell until I had it all together. Yuck.

And it TOTALLY looks better in black, i agree...

new progress! I re-did the door panels in black headliner material, which has a great feel. I also covered the light gray section of the rear interior trim with the same material. I also painted the door panels black.

I made some mistakes still, so I'll probably be redoing a couple of things. As usual, camera flash throws off the color of the fabric in pics, but in real life the color all looks great.

good to know we're not the only one with scuff marks/scrapes in the rear panels

keep up the good work!

btw you're going to black-out EVERYTHING correct? all trim/carpet?

Not to be a jerk but just my opinion, It looks like you sharpie'd it all LOL But I mean hey the dye technique worked. Good find. I wonder how much hotter the car is going to be now though?

well, it's garage kept most of the time, and frankly, it's worth it either way. ACtually, of everything posted, only the vent pieces are dyed. think I know what you are saying about the sharpie thing, the door arm pieces are plasti-dipped, and the only drawback i've had so far is they are really prone to dust and fingerprints, so in pics they often look uneven. but what you actually see is just smudges.

and yes, everything i can black out will be. i'll probably not even keep the charcoal parts, i'll probably gradually black them out too. I've still got some work to re-do for sure, as this is my first time doing anything like this and it's a definite learning process.

yeah, i carry band equipment in my yaris, scratches are a way of life. :)

If i can make one suggestion i would color match the door handles and bezel cause now they look out of place.

in real life, the color actually matches well. the flash makes the fabric look a lot more purplish than it is.

as for the white out of the lock button, it's in the interior light change thread on here. just search for "interior light color change."
