2009 Yaris 5 door hatchback

i want some 18's and wanna lower it, here the spec on the wheels i want

18x8 4-100 +40 Offset, 2" chrome lip: front
18x8 4-100 +35 Offset, 3.25" chrome lip Rear

will this work and what spring shock setup should i get?

why 18's? if it was me i'd find 18's with better offsets... like 18x8 +(20-25) almost non- existent in 4x100 unless you dish out big $$$ I'd go with 17", you have more choices but I wouldn't trust 8" width unless it was +25 min

that's an 8" wide wheel in +20mm offset and a 225 wide tire.

and same wheel and tire with an effective offset of +7mm

nice... I had to call Tire Rack about the c1's in black and they were giving me such a hard time for trying to put +20mm offset on a Yaris, lol. You would think they would know everything about wheels and tires.

Don't mean to hijack the thread... good luck finding a wheel.

18 are just too big IMO. Stick with 15/16"'s for best ride/handling/mpg. I have seen 17's/18's on other Yaris's they rub, scrape and are too much for a pathetic 105 hp eco-car. You will regret getting them just read what everyone else says here too

+1 on that... the only way you would scrape is with a 8" wide wheel with bad offset, even 7" wide +42 don't scrape.

The reason people say go with 15-17" wheels are because with the 4x100 those sizes will give you the best options. Normally the smaller the size the lighter the wheel unless they are a good brand. 17" don't show too much tire and still come in great sizes and offsets.

Really? So 22" will fit fine? C'mon keep it real, to put 18" wheels or larger on you need to go to 40 series or less tires to fit, and "keeping it real" most 18" wheels are 8" plus wide. So big tires dont scrape, give great ride, and don't dent rims?
Big wheels weigh more, therefore more unsprung and rotational mass, hurting braking and acceleration performance too. Are you saying bigger heavier wheels are EASIER to slow and accelerate? Not trying to be negative, but elementary physics dont lie... yeah they look good and wide tires have more grip of course..I think what i said still applies though.

Tamago is just saying be more open minded.... don't condem all 17 and 18 inch set ups because you know one person that had rubbing problems with their set up.

you do your homework, take some measurement and a little trial and error you can come up with a setup no matter what you want to accomplish.

with that said a 215/35R18 tire on a said wheels from post 1 of this thread should be fine with a mild drop, but may have some rubbing on hard turns.

Very open minded. 35 series tires are wheel dents waiting to happen. If you live somewhere there are no potholes I wish I could live there too. I did not condemn 18" rims, just said IMO they are can be too big. I personally dont like a car that rides like a truck. I was a kid too and know that sometimes looks are more important than anything else, did some funky mods to my cars and bikes at the time, now I look at the pics and just smile. Its all good just be aware is all I meant.

Here's 15x8...+15offset rims on my car and they work just fine with a bit of camber of course....

If you're just going for the look. yeah, I'd say 18's will do fine for your car. I've seen them on the Yaris before, but they do decrease the performance of the car. Slower accelleration, longer braking distances and more wear and tear on your pads. If you want performance you won't see anyone with an 18 inch rim on a Yaris.

15's the way to go for performance and tire sizes are more abundant with manufacturers.

TRD has a set of 18's that will fit the Yaris perfectly. They are heavier, but lighter than if you were to go with a set of mmmmm Rota's for example.

Yeah 15's with a good offset and tires are the way to go Im running some 15x8+15 with 195/45/R15 with some camber of course.....

Btw, the picture on my sig is a 15x6.5 with a +38 offset.

Im about 15to20min from the Irvine Spectrum,but yeah a little bit of work to make them work but i plan on slamming it and rolling the fenders but its fine right now for daily.
