I have an '08 Yaris, and have noticed that when the weather gets below 50 degrees or so there is a loud squeak and grind. It is much louder than brake squeal, and I have recently serviced the brakes. It happens when it is colder, and the car has not been driven for at least three or four hours. The squeak happens while the car is moving, and lasts for about the first 200 yards of driving. It happened last year, and now it is going on again. I have no idea where this is coming from. Has anyone else had this problem?

It is actually so loud, I can sit in my house and hear my wife drive the car away.

Get rid of the word grind in your description, and it sounds like a squeal that will often come from the serpentine belt.

The belt is fine, every few thousand miles I give it a quick coat of belt conditioner. I was just out driving, and the odd thing is that the noise seems to be coming from the front end, drivers side. The Yaris has a 'sealed' chasis, so attempting to load grease into a point would do no good. Man, this is annoying. The dealer could not fix it last year, and I doubt they will fix it this year.
