i bought a cheap exhaust tip from checkers and it was the crappy "two screw" one. anyways, it ended up coming loose so i took it off. hopefully i didnt damage anything under there cause it was shaking quite violently. im gonna get the dealer tip so i had a question on its sturdyness. anyone have problems with it?

The deaper tip is a screw on one just like the one you had
the difference is you will pay $40 mor then it's worth.
After looking at the Toyota tip I went and bough my own, no problems

I got one from Wal-mart, $13 + tax. 3 screws. Looks perfect! :)

Yup I have a knock-off too I figure why spend much for the tip when it is going to be irrelevant once I figure out the future exhaust system. As a side note though Sparks price rocks (like $25ish) and I would have picked it up had I known about them before grabbing my no-name locally.

The Toyota tip has a stainless steel hose clamp integrated into it. It holds on tight.

Is that the TRD tip or Toyota tip?
The dealer tip I almost bought had 3 u shaped screw clamps.

Yeah I think that's either the US style or the TRD
The one the dealer had shown me was 3" round without the slach cut.
But still regardless what tip it is, they wanted over $60 for it.

The Dealer tip is installed with a clamp, very sturdy.

this is a dumb question probably but any way dose an exhaust tip do any thing for sound

I think the only way it would change the sound would be if you got tips that faced downwards, might create a little extra noise.

Nope - looks only.

Just ordered my TRD tip. I think it looks very nice and after all it is a genuine Toyota part.

how much does that TRD tip cost? you can buy a turbo style Dynomax muffler and 2" stainless steel tip and have it installed for 60 bucks where I live...I mean, the TRD tip probbly only costs 20 bucks, right?

I guess what I am wondering why you wouldn't get exhaust for performance and sound, only just throw a tip on it for looks only...

Right, the tip is just for looks. I'd rather not really jack with the exhaust. Doesn't seem worth it to me. I just like the shiny little tip. I think it is a nicer cleaner look. No big deal.
