Its for a 3 door.
They say it mounts to the rear center cup holder. That looks like 1 bolt. My question is it secure & stable? to rest your arm on?

the one for the Scion xA I had was the same design, it was great. Never heard of anyone complain about the arm rest in the yaris (other than it wasn't a standard option...)

its a bolt but also a hold down as well which makes it VERY secure.....

yes it is secure and stable to rest your arm on
it is more than one bolt.
it is a long stiff hunk of wire trapped under both front seats rear track
doing the major holding down part. that holds down the base, and the
top part screws on top....with the one little screw
it will be only slightly wobbly/bendy but it works pretty well.
it is not as stable and most center consoles, but the Yaris is a cheap lil car....you get
lil partz.

I have the center arm rest that fits in the cup holder and is secured with a U shaped wire to the seat rail. Then the arm rest is secured to the mount. I rest my weight on it all the time with no problems. It's not like a rock that doesn't move, but it is strong enough.

My car came with one and I removed and sold it. While it worked reasonably well, it wiggled a bit too much for my taste.

I bought the one garm sells on micro image. Very good quality and very secure. Black
leather with red stitching. I've had it about a year and it's still holding up great!

I have the factory option armrest. It's held up well. It's great if you have an auto, but would probably get in the way if you drive stick. Also, the cloth material cover is like Scion material, it does'nt have the polka dots. It also flips up, but I hav'nt figured out why since it can't hold anything anyways.:iono:

It looks too low, unless you have a long arm? :iono: The Toyota arm rest fold up and out of the way when you don't need it.

The other Yaris at work has one, I've been meaning to ask the owner how he likes it. I notice he has it flipped up, I guess to keep it out of the way (it is an auto as well). If he doesn't like it I might see if I can try it, I'd rather do that than risk shelling out the cash for one then finding I don't care for it!
My last car had a storage area in the arm rest and honestly, I didn't use it much. Considering my Yaris has over twice as many storage places than my old car, I don't see much need for it.

i have the factory armrest while nice on long trips its usually flipped up and out of the way because it gets in the way when your shifting :( as for stability its not going anywhere its very solid.

I'm considering buying the same in a little while.
Very important question: Does this micro image arm rest in any way cover up, interfere with the use of, or extend forward/over/above, the CD holder slots that are next to the parking brake handle?

I don't think so, check out how far forward it sits:

I have the Micro Image one and I really like it. It doesn't cover the CD holder slot at all. It installs in about 2 minutes.
I definitely would recommend it.

The Micro Image center arm rest opens up to give you more cd slots and coin slots for quarters.

Is the micro image center armrest lower, or further back, than the stock armrest? Like, will I have to readjust where I keep my elbow while driving?

I wonder if any member here have this armrest style and have had any experience they can share (ease of install, comfort, looks, etc.)... thanks.

It not a bad looking armrest.. looks pretty decent.
I'm pretty intrigued how this console is mounted. Anyway, I did send a question to the eBay seller hopefully he gets back to me with more info.
i have the stock one, grrr. i can't stand it, i should figure out how to take it out. it is always in the way of shifting, and it is at a terrible height for me as well.

Well I for one, love the stock arm rest, its at perfect height, including for shifting. So I'm worried that the micro image arm rest will be too low/too different...

I have the OEM armrest and I'm 100% satisfied. The microimage armrest certainly looks nice. Maybe someone can comment on any height differences between the two armrests... to help you with your decision.

I installed the arm rest from Toyota and found it too high for comfort. Hack # 1: I cut 3/4 inch from the height and welded the parts back together with a plastic welding kit from Harbor Freight.
My gripe #2 was having to reach down to shift. Hack #2: I installed both popular short shift options and made a threaded adapter to raise the shift knob 2.5 inches. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... with my elbow on the rest my hand lands naturally on the shift knob. Correct human factors engineering is such a comfort. When I drive my wife's stock Corolla It feels like I'm rowing a Roman war ship.

At 6ft. 220Lbs., I find my factory armrest in my hatch to be the perfect height. And real sturdy too!
I drive an A/T so shifting is not an issue.....

It's fairly cheap and it works for me! I have no complaints. I'm 5'10" and 200lbs.

It was a little cheaper back in 07 when I bought it. I love it. Decent amount of stowage, the cup holder folds away when not being used, seeing how I did a back seat delete that holder is useless.
