Just got done putting the hood I got from Ernie back together. I didn't like the way the stock mesh looked, as it was basically just shiny stainless, so I swung by autozone and scored some goodies to fix it. Pix below...I'll be posting more tomorrow when I get it on the car. Rain and work halted me tonight.

Hood as it comes from Seibon:

Again, you can't really see it that well in the pics, but I'll upload some more after I get it on the car tomorrow, and I have some daylight to make it pop.

I can give more details if anyone is interested, but it was basically remove mesh, four coats each of primer/paint/clear coat in that order, then four coats of gold class on the hood, reassemble and [hopefully] install tomorrow.

And the verdict? I like it.

As far as overall comments, fit and finish is nice. Only two complaints...

A) It doesn't use stock hood bolts, so you have to track those down and then align the hood properly, which is no big deal if you live near any kind of decent hardware store, and

B) The hole for the prop rod is not big enough for the head, but a dremel will fix that in short order, although I am thinking about that gas actuated lift cylinder that one of the sponsors carries...

And for those that are curious...

Stock Hood: 11.8lbs

Vented Seibon: 7.8lbs

Um actually bro I took the mesh out of my siebon hood vents and have my Jdm "rs" front , rear and side out for paint and i'm also painting my cf hood body color. Yeah my kit now is kinda "ricey" if you will but it was free and I know ya feel me on that .

The painted grille looks a lot better with the hood on the car . The light in the first pic made it look bright red . I also really love the 09 carmine red and look foward to see your car progress

In that pic, it doesn't look like a color match.

Only 4 lbs difference? man the stock hood is light. I wonder what the difference is for the hatch?

yeah it depends on how the sun hits it as to whether or not it looks matched or not. It's a lot closer than it looks in that pic though.

As to the hatch, I got that too, so I'll let you know what the weight difference is when I get it installed.

The cf hatch weighs about 7lbs without glass stock is around 15 without glass and around 21lbs with the wiper motor on it still. When I installed my cf hatch I left the rear wiper motor/wiper off so that saved a few more lbs and also made for a cleaner look not having the rear wiper .

+1, I calculated 15 pounds savings also, if you don't replace the rear wiper.

There is a thread on here listing weight savings for specific parts.
