Wanted a tire rotation and nothing else. Mileage on my 09 sedan @ 4500. Surprised they didn't try to sell me an oil change or anything.

Total came out to about $20 after taxes. Not too bad, considering they inspected my tire tread and brakes as well. Did I mention complimentary car wash? Really needed that one. :laugh:

8/32" and 10mm/4mm F/R. Now for the DIY oil change with PP synthetic since that is all that remains to satisfy my "5K" recommended service :thumbup:

I do the same, but only because its free at discount tire... plus you don't have to jack the car up to change the oil.. lol

Rhino ramps... It was to "test the water" anyways to see how the dealer was about stuff. I'll be looking to do my own tire rotations once I get a good torque wrench, a floor jack, some jack stands...

Yeah, I still have to acquire a few more tools to do rotations myself...

You can change your oil. It's easy. I do it in the apartment parking lot in 20 mins. I've rotated my tires too. With my old car, I've changed alternator and once, worked on my trans. Just be discrete and don't leave oil on the ground. That's what gets them angry. :smile:

That's exactly what I used to do at my last place with this and my last car, and nobody cared, so you're right about that. I wish I could say it were that simple now, I really do. The countless hidden camera's within the gated community I live in (no I'm not gloating) are the only barriers. If it was possible to change the oil and rotate the tires before big brother caught me I would jump into it head first without a second thought. Since it's not, the only external thing I can do in only a minute's time is inspect/change the air filter and check the oil. Anything else that takes a little more time and effort will almost always attract the rent-a-cop. And no he won't take donut bribes either :thumbdown:

Since I'm a relative noobie to tire rotation, any tips on tools/tricks for the Yaris? Or even snow tires? I'm dreading driving on my Goodyear Eagle LS tires (OEM) during the snowy Wisconsin winter...

It's just typical red tape from the homeowner's ASSociation, so they're always looking for a reason to pin something on residents. Pull out a wedgie outside your own front door they get a wild hair up their asses about it.

Back on-topic: chai, tire rotations are a pretty simple thing to remember. Rotate fronts to rears and vice-versa every 5K miles with your oil change. As long as you remember to do that every single time you should be getting slow and pretty even tire wear.

just jack up the car and you'll be set
