View Full Version : Serpentine belt replacement.

Hey guys I've got 70k miles now and my belts starting to make some noise.
It looks like it's getting a little dried out.
Has anyone replaced theres on their own?
I don't have a lift and it doesn't look very easy to get to from the top.

Check out the thread below. It's actually not bad to do. You just loosen the two alternator bolts (from above), pivot the alternator towards the engine, pull the belt off, put the new on on, and re-tension.

Just like to say that i just replaced my belt today ($17) for the first time because it started making noise on startup.... Car has over 137k miles on it. I love how reliable this car is. 8 years on a belt, 7 years on the stock battery, 120k on the brakes, 130k until the first headlight went out. And the repairs are easy. Wish all cars were this good.

When you tension the belt beware of damaging sensors or components on the engine block with that prybar. I forget exactly what its called but many report to be careful what you pry on.
