Can you install a aftermarket one and still utilize the factory AUX port? by possibly wiring it to the new unit?? is this possible and if so dose anyone have a write up? :smoking:

if the new head unit has the inputs you can do it, might have to re wire to RCA's
or you can just get 1/8 stereo jack to rca cable and feed it through the whole where the Aux input is.

Yes, I have done exactly this -- factory AUX to aftermarket HU with stereo jack, but I didn't make a write-up.

The factory AUX port is split into four wires and delivered to the head unit in via four pin connector. See this diagram (http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showpost.php?p=372831&postcount=47) on the connector. I do think it maybe changed on more recent models... maybe someone knows more?

In any case, all you have to do is properly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRRS_connector) solder those four wires (two ground, one right, one left) to a 1/8" stereo plug, maybe fill it with some high-temp hot glue for stability/insulation, and you are done. I used a stereo plug from Radio Shack (Catalog #: 274-284), soldered on four wires, jammed them into the correct pins in the four pin connector and taped it up tightly. You could connect it "properly," of course, I just didn't want to alter the connector in any way in case I needed or wanted to put back in the stock HU.
