Positions for Jack Stands?

What are the suggested/best positions for the jack stands when raising the vehicle?

Are they in the owners manual (which I do not have with me at the moment), or described in the service manual anywhere?

I just need to raise the rear of the vehicle enough for me to get under and switch out the muffler exhaust.

On the left side of the muffler you're going to see a metal rod of about 4" that's the jack support for the back
