Hi all,
Ok I recently purchased my 2000 yaris 1.3 sr, problem im having is when it rains the wipers most of the time come on automaticaly and don't turn of, even when the windscreen becomes dry, when i switch the car of and leave it of for a couple of hours it some times stops, but majority of the time im having to remove the fuse 'cause it's really annoying driving around with the wipers on.
problem only happens when it rains, is there some type of sensor that i can disable?
Help on this would be much appreciated. :iono:

I don't believe that any generation of Yaris ever had automatic wipers. The wiper relay is built into the wiper switch, so I would suspect the switch assembly. If you pop the connector off when the problem is occurring you'll know for sure.

Hey thanks for the reply, problem only happens when it rains, wipers just come on automaticly. is there a guide on how to remove the wiper switch and relay, ill try replacing these and see if this sorts my problem out.

Did they always come on automatically, or did that just start recently, when they would then also not shut off?
Here's a DIY on removing the wiper stalk (the relay is inside of the stalk and isn't separately replaceable). This is for a newer generation Yaris, but I would expect it to be very similar on yours.

Hmmm. It is also possible that the prior owner wired them up to run automatically, using parts from a vehicle that is so equipped.

If that is the case, the modifications to the wiring should be quite visible either at the connector to the switch or at the connection to the wiper motor.
