Very interesting article. Its very sad to see people exploited like this. Unfortunately its how the world operates. Its not just Toyota its all car companies & other manufacturers also. Many manufacturing processes rely on human exploitation to make an affordable product.
Different example: No one is willing to pay over $1000 for a simple (dumb) cell phone, $10,000 for an LCD TV or computer. If the tantalum metal found in most of these high tech electronics was mined by non-slave workers, making a reasonable wage, no one would be able to afford the product. 80% of the world's known Tantalum supply is in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and is mined be slave labor including children.
The only way to stop these practices would be to stop using such products but that will never happen. Without exploitation of these people the world economy would not be able to function. There will always be slaves & we as the consumer are the main reason for that. This is very sad but should be known by everyone.
