Don't you see the Coca-Cola? Drinking and driving don't mix..
I love threads like these, they always encourage people to drive safer
I don't think they really say anything about the safety of the Yaris (or the lack there of).. As any car going fast enough will be turned into a pile of twisted metal in an accident. Remember that Ferrari Enzo ($1 million dollar car) that got cut in half by the telephone pole where one half ended up about 200 feet away from the other half, yet the telephone pole was still standing?

So you're saying that the driver was trying to drive from the passenger seat while completely hyper? Right...
Not much needs to be said. Since I joined here several people have totaled their Yarii and walked away without a scratch. I recall there was only case where a driver was hospitalized with injuries. It may be small and "fragile", but you'd be surprised at how well it can protect if the time comes. That's proof enough.
As for Steffan, he was asking for it. That rich dumbass...

Well here goes the story. I was February 8th, 2009. I was driving at 3 AM when this red Dodge Ram 2500(the red truck seen on the pictures) made a sudden left turn in front of me. I wasn’t able to even break at all. Once we crashed both cars shut down. I had a tiny cut on my forehead and nose. I wasn’t able to get out of the car so I had to wait for the firemen to open the door. Due to the severe damage of my car they took my immediately to the ER to make sure I did not have any internal bleeding or something broken. After about 4 hours I was released because everything was good with me. I just went to the chiropractor because my shin was in a pain. After a few visits my shin was like new!
The next day I found out that the truck driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Damn Homie! I hope that drunk ass foo is still locked up in the twin towers for what he did and what he could have done. You are lucky to be posting on this site, and not have someone posting for you.

It is no longer a Yaris, more like a Yarwas!
Glad to hear you survived relatively unscathed. I have a few pictures of totaled cars I crawled out from in my youth, I am glad I am past all that...

Got to love the yaris cup holders, doesn't hold it when you need it to, but you can get in what it looks like a 70+mph wreck, and it still holds a coke can, without spilling a drop.

WOW. Judging by the interior photos alone I had assume that the driver had been critically or fatally injured in that wreck. I didn't think that driver had escape with a few minor cuts. After the accident did you purchase another Yaris?

nah, I looked at that and said...possible nosebleed, sore foot.
The yaris crumpled up nicely as it should have
and didn't kill the driver.
a yaris only weakness is: it will 'total' at energy potentials lower than larger cars, but the safety cell is as good as any other car on the road pretty much.
it is designed to crumple up and look like crap.

I plan in buying another Yaris in the near future(love the gas mileage! and of course that it saved my life!)... for now i am driving my old 92 Accord(not so good in gas compared to the Yaris).
