View Full Version : coilovers quick question
I'm a bit newbie at suspension stuff :iono:
Does coilovers replace both stock springs and shocks at the same time?
If i put Tein Basic on my TS, do I still need Tein S tech?
Thanks

Coilovers are a set of a spring around a strut, as one unit. Like this:

So it does indeed replace both your springs and your shocks. Hope that helps :)
Nice, thanks mate :)
Now I just have to choose weather to buy springs or save money for coilovers :)

The Yaris really only gets "coilovers" on the front - the rears are still a spring and separate shock, but with a coilover kit you usually get adjustable height and stiffness.

save up for the coilovers, you won't be disappointed.

Definitely.
coilovers only way to go!
So, coilovers are that much better than sport springs? Well then, I have another question :)
Few times a year I have to drive on a very ruined dirt road. It really helps if the car's bottom is at least 15cm of the ground.
Is there a coilover that could be adjusted form 0 drop (stock) to let's say 50mm drop? Tein basic is adjustable from about -40 to -70 or something like that.

Megans start with a zero drop, don't know about other brands.

i have megan coilovers and ran all the way up in the rear...it was a 1.5" drop from stock....fyi.
no coilover is going to be easy to adjust UP to 0 ride height...its a couple hours work at least...

I have sport springs and shocks, and I like em, just felt like I needed to back up the other option. I mean I'd love coilovers, but I love the money I saved too, so it evens out.
