I am going to purchase a set of winter tires on steel wheels for my 2008 hatchback RS, it looks like I am going to go with General Altimax Arctics based on user reviews and price.

The OEM all season tires are 185/60/15, should I stick with that size or go to the smaller 14" tire which is also an OEM size for the non RS or S models?

Price would be lower but I would likely be giving up some ground clearance.....

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Narrow tires cut through the snow, wide tires plow the snow.

Large diameter tires offer more contact patch, deeper in the snow.

Think "Model T": a Model T goes places NO 4x4 could ever go!

will a 14" steel wheel work on a Yaris?

A 175/65/14 would be, IMHO, the best size for a snow tire (This is an OEM tire size, too). I have 185/65/14 snow tires on my Yaris (they came off of my former Honda Civic). If I were to buy new ones, I'd go with the 175s.
