Alright, lets see how many "Duh"s I get. lol
So here i am looking through some threads around here & see something about a storage compartment where the spare tire is.. I knew i had one & didn't really discover where it was until that photo. I just ignored it & thought "yeah right its just where the spare tire is, theres not storage in there..."
Today, I'm looking through my car pulling out all the clothes & stuff that has mysteriously accumulated in my little hatchback beauty when... whats this?? Im looking up at the steering wheel from the bottom & I see a latch.. I pull it.. THERES A WHOLE OTHER COMPARTMENT RIGHT BEHIND THE FREAKIN STEERING WHEEL I NEVER KNEW EXISTED!!!
Yes I'm sure most all of you have found this but, having my car for a year and just NOW finding it... I feel pretty dumb. & I also found that compartment by the spare tire... It now holds my crappy back up GPS that i hope somehow disappears. lol.

Cheers! M2
Welcome to the club, I had a moment myself not too long ago. For about 2 years I would carry stuff in the back of my LB and always complain about the gap between the false floor and the rear seat. Until I see a pic here on yw.com and lo and behold the false floor flips out to cover it out! That coulda saved me tons of trouble when packing for road trips! LOL

Ok I'm blonder.. which pic are you talking about? I know the space where the tire is, under the 'floor' of the hatch, (i shoved a gas can under there and now the floor doesnt go all the way down) what compartment are you guys refering to?? (I know the one by the steering wheel at least lol.. keep my gas credit card in there hehe)

My salesperson explained both of those features to me - and he and I are both blond.

shes talking about the other one behind the steering wheel, its about 12+ inches long and about 5+ inches deep. If you get on your knees at the driver door stick your head under the steering wheel on the left side and look up at the dash you will see the latch is to the right of the smaller compartment that you know of by the steering wheel. Of course if you are in Europe then I guess just read everything I wrote backwards and you'll figure it out :bellyroll:

A friend of mine has a key to my car so I used to come outside after work with the mirrors flattened and every compartment in the car open^-^ I learned where they all were quickly...You do know that the dash has hide-away cupholders right? Oh and that there is two more glove compartments on the passenger side...I didnt find the one in the fusebox cover till I put my neons in>.<

wiirenet, this is what I was talking about. See how it flips over to cover the gap between the false floor and the backseat?

This is great! How do you manage to get your seats to lay flat like that? Mine always lay at an angle.

You need to pull your rear seats to forward before laying them down.

I'm going to try this later today. The hatchbacks have such a great design!

BEFORE laying the seats down slide them forward and then lay them down. You might have to slide your driver and passenger side seats up first to have enough room and then voila! LOL

In the beginning, I used to completely forget about the compartment behind the steering wheel. Once, I forgot my breakfast in there. Out of sight, out of mind. Found it a few days later.
The compartment I forget the most now is the top one, passenger side, hardly ever use it.

Also, you need the split-folding rear seats to get them that flat. Those of us with the bench seat aren't so lucky...

OMG THAT IS SO AMAZING!
I was always a little mad that there was a gap but now! I have a mini Yaris Truck!
I know I hated it too! The only thing I wish is that the made it more grippy. The plastic has little grooves in it, but its SUPER SLICK so stuff slides wayy to easy.

Get some of that foamy/grippy shelf liner in black and lay it down when you need to transport stuff back there. Should keep it in place.
