Garm can get them stock or with custom spring rates:

Hmm... custom spring rates. I dont even know how the stock spring rate comes with it feels like... I wish someone has these so i can hitch a ride lol

thanks supmet. I have one set in stock at 4k/3k, the first in the USA! -- and can order (coming from Japan) any spring rate you want.

What kind of spring rate are there?

They are stocking 4k/3k. You can order any spring rate you want.

I am interested in these but concerned about the front max drop being 1&3/4" only. I am not sure what I have now with DF210's but I certainly want to go about an inch lower.

i think they are height adjustable... correct me if I am wrong

Yeah...they are but only to a max of 1&3/4"

yeah, i was kind of bummed when i saw the front measurements too. i got df's also and i do wish the front was a little lower. i know not everybody buys coilovers for looks, but if i'm going to spend that kind of cash i want to be able to dump it occasionally!

why?
01-14-2010, 08:34 PM
Are they adjustable for rebound & damper? The page didn't say so. Custom spring rates sound silly if you cant make the shock harder or softer. Or maybe they'll dpo the shocks custom as well?

yarr_is
01-14-2010, 09:12 PM
They do not have dampening adjust... it's preload. Also it's pretty bad dumping the car with coilovers. Less rebound and stuff... it's like having springs and killing your struts

DerFlosser

I don't want to "DUMP" my car per se. It's a daily driver. I just want to go about .5-1" lower. I have always had coilovers on my cars and prefer them to strut/spring combo's.

Installing coilovers without the height spacers (usually two locking rings) will get you the extra 1". Saggio, 03Z33 and others did that to lower the car as much as possible.

Hmmm... interesting.

How much for 8K on the front and a 7k on the rear?

yarr is - one set in stock, only two came into the USA so far.

Moses, PM replied, you were asking about springs only.

1.5 -- compared to other coilovers, they are a good price for what they are.

^ see im not too familiar with suspension talk so i cannot compare really. Ive been looking into the megans which are under 900 and idk if id want to spend another 200 for the pro-soc.

I would go for tanabe... I might want to stay away from megans. From personal experience and other reviews. They ARE cheap and decent coilovers. But there's a reason.

you wouldn't. It's more like a $60 difference.

im looking only for street use. I will not be tracking it. I just want to lower my car but I dont want to go for springs on stock struts and I want the adjustability of coilovers.

About $900 a set. Megans are $860 shipped in my store.

yea i saw megans are 860 shipped but i didnt see the tanabes on there. damn thanks garm save me a set lol uve convinced me to get the tanabes. Only thing is what spring rate would be good for street use. I dont want too too hard but i dont wana drive a boat either. I do mainly city driving without some highway driving (about 70%-30%).

Check it out.. saw these pics.

If I have a choice I would seriously go tanabe. I had megans on my other car. And it was not a pleasant ride. Plus the noise starts coming in. Due to the upper mount which was cheaply made =/

I wonder how much stack height the helper spring adds? I bet you can remove it and gain another 1.5" or so.

I would get them just like they come, no custom spring rates. You can adjust the ride to suit your style.

Garm,
As a vendor...are you able to get a set of installation instructions for these? The Tein installation instructions are very good and available online. Are they available for these (I assume that they would be VERY similiar).

Interesting that they seem to have traditional rear springs, but still have the height adjuster. Wonder how that works together? Looks like a damn nice kit.

cali yaris

that's how my coilovers look too. separate springs and shocks in the rear. So really, the Yaris only gets "coilovers" in the front.

so $900 for these new tanabe coilovers? I can't wait for my tax returns then. I take it these will work with the sedan just like all the other suspension parts.

cali yaris
01-28-2010, 06:41 PM
they should and with coilovers you can make your sedan sit even from front to back. Springs tend to give more drop in the rear for sedans.

Thats the main reason I don't want springs. Well that and height adjustment for track days. So will you have more in stock soon? I have a few weeks until my returns come back though.

I have the money but I am up in the air on what I want. I think I'll wait to hear some reviews on these before deciding. I was pretty set on the Tein's but these are $100 less and potentially better and, well, I am in no rush anyhow. Winter stinks!

Tanabe told me two sets came in, so that is how many are in the USA at this time. I don't know their schedule for future shipments, but they are holding one of the two sets for Micro Image. Maybe I'll pick up both if there is enough interest, would hate to lose the opportunity if it's going to be months before more come in.
