took it to toyota locally and they've ordered a new tail light in for me
its been just about 2 years since I had both tail lights replaced under warranty for the SAME issue

Machine carwashes screw up all kinds of things on all different vehicles. Nothing but handwashing for my baby. Seriously it takes 15 minutes to wipe it down with optimum no rinse.

agreed, but some of us don't live in areas that hand-washing is practical year-round. i'm not a big fan of automatic car washes for various reasons and i hate looking at a dirty, slush-covered car i'm spending my hard-earned money making payments on. personally, the last time i hand-washed the car(november?) i gave it a couple coats of wax and just told myself it's gonna look bad for a few months. i've taken a power-sprayer to it once(i turned it on the lowest setting and my primary objective was to get the hard-packed slush out of the wheel wells(i'm lowered so it adds to the problem). my point is, i don't do it but i can't fault others who do.

My bulbs kept busting in my headlights, but ever since I painted them black and resealed them I haven't had that problem

I actually when to a powerwash place....and I never ever shoot at 90 degree angles to the car...its always on sharp anlgles.
I was doing pretty much the exact same thing the exact same time of year 2 years ago.
I'd love to hand wash the car, but it was like -8C yesterday
I like to take the car in every now and then over the winter to get the salt and ice off from the under the car and the wheels wells and suspension.....i don't know about anyone else, but my front wheel wells have filled so full of ice i couldnt turn the wheel all the way to the left.... *yikes!*

Actually, I know a guy that seems to live by the above principle. He parks
outside all year long. The only time it gets washed is when he goes to
the dealer for the oil changes, as they give a "free" car wash with all service.
washing, unless you have certain acidic things on your car, is unnecessary, and really only good if you want a shiny car. With modern paints and such, it is only rarely needed to protect the car's finish.
