haha i know. ridiculous question, but can anyone tell me best way to take hubs off steelies? i dont want to crack them.

...Or you can pry it off with a crow bar I know that sounds harsh but I've done it, but I know how it is about not breaking them but you should be find. Just nugged/pry the bar under the cover going around the wheel. That probably didn't make sense. :thumbsup:

I was going to use the lug wrench to pry my covers off (as per the manual instructions), but I had a hunch that there must be an easier and less damaging way.

I have a Canadian spec HB w/the 14" wheel covers (the ones with the large gaps b/w the "spokes"). The covers come off pretty easy with just your hands (no need to scratch 'em up w/a prying tool).

Stick your fingers underneath the "outer rim" portion, on either side of the spoke. Give it a careful but firm pull, using an even force on both hands. Pops out cleanly.

I realize the sedan 14" and sedan/LB 15" wheel cover designs have smaller holes b/w the spokes, and therefore less room to grab with just your fingers. I dunno how easy or hard it would be to hand remove these ones. :iono:

While I'm sure the plastic is designed to handle it, you may want to keep temperature in mind when you yank 'em. When it gets cold things like plastics tend to get more brittle (and therefore may break). If possible, try prying the 'caps off in a warm-ish area like a heated garage.

Again, this probably isn't really an issue, but it never hurts to be careful. Might save you the money that a replacement would cost. :smile:
