Hi all,

So I recently purchased a new stereo for my 2006 Yaris Hatchback from Best Buy with the guarantee that they could install it despite the fact that my model year doesn't appear in their system. Turns out they can't. See, the 2006 Yaris was a Canada only model sold for something like four months. The Best Buy guys could not find a mount for the new stereo. So my question to everyone, any suggestions on where to find an appropriate mount.

06 is identical to 07-10 as far as the radio goes. They probably don't have the 06 listed because they are a US based company and the Yaris wasn't brought into the US until 07.

You cannot get kits in the GTA area Best Buy outlets. What configuration head unit did you get, single or double din? By 'mount' I assume that you are referring to the necessary trim kit, and not the actual mounting brackets. The stock mounting brackets will work for an aftermarket head unit. It is just a matter of finding the correct trim kit, readily available from Crutchfield.

If your new car stereo is a Single DIN unit, you could use the Metra 99-8216 trim kit. I ordered my stereo from crutchfieldcanada.com and they included that kit with it for free.

If you are interested in following up with crutchfieldcanada.com, their Product Code for this kit is 120998216 (http://www.crutchfield.ca/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=120998216) and it costs $16.99 plus shipping.
To get an idea of how it looks installed, here is a picture of my setup below:

I used the Scosche TA-2077B mounting kit.
It worked fine, I just had to trim off a couple of extra tabs.
It mounts with the same screw locations as the factory metal side plates.

I am surprised BestBuy didn't do the install. They just gave up on it? Nobody pulled the factory unit to actually SEE what it needed?
The Yaris is pretty easy to do.
