Hey guys,
I recently purchased a pair of side markers from microimage and need some serious help with installing these guys. I've searched the site high and low for some answers but failed to find anything worth while. My main problem is where I need to wire these in - drilling the holes and extending the wires are no big deal. I'm hoping for a similar plug and play situation found on page 6 of this thread (http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3471), but I'm willing to splice if I must.

Any help would be very, very appreciated. :)

If you got the LED Fender lights from Garm they should be plug and play
if they dont work , unplug the rubber connector and turn it 180degres:thumbsup:

US models don't appear to have that harness, unfortunately. I even double checked just now. If only it was that simple :frown:

I just installed the kit on my 2007 Yaris Liftback, US model and it went down just like 1NZYaris1 described it...

I was expecting some splicing, but it was a 5 minute plug-and-play job... It was so easy I didn't even bother taking pictures...

Wow really? It even says on Microimage that splicing will be required. I know you didn't take pictures but can you possibly describe where that harness can be found? I checked on both the driver and passenger's side and don't see anything even close to resembling that. The only place I didn't check was behind the purplish padding along the inside of the fenders...

Alright so I was doing some thinking and is it possible the harness is actually in the engine bay? I found a potential harness (found on both the passenger and driver's side) and took a picture of the passenger side.

Could this be it?

yeap that looks like it , at the other end is a plug that the Micro Image ones will plug into
uncllip your side markers out of the fender .
and have a look you will be surprised

Well I haven't actually drilled the holes yet, and that's why I'm trying to get all this straightened out first. I had a look see again today and I can't see the actual plug, so I'm not 100% sure as to where i need to drill. I tried removing the black plastic in the wheel well but that's wayyyy too huge of a hassle. I guess my next question would be what steps did you guys take to get them totally installed (from start to finish)?

I guess I'm not so confident about drilling the holes afterall

Drilling holes??? Don't need to drill any holes.

1. I just popped off an OEM side marker, I believe you push it towards the back of the car, then out.

2. The harness/plug is right there if you want to try and mate it with the aftermarket one.

3. That didn't work for me, so I snipped it and just wired up the new sidemarker. Took about 5 minutes tops. Test for polarity (reverse the wires if it doesn't light up)

4. Press it into place.

From the factory repair manual...

Alright I'm terribly confused now lmao. I have a sedan, and it doesn't have any OEM side markers nor any potential place to snap part of the area above the fender out to place a side marker. Could it be the sedan wasn't really designed to have a side marker installed, as opposed to the hatchback?

Oh... hahahha... sorry! My bad I didn't check if you had a sedan..!

No worries. I'm beginning to wish I had a hatchback now because it's cake to install compared to the sedan lol.

i thought you already had sidemarkers , me bad
if you want i can pop a sidemarker out and trace around the hole

1NZYaris1, thanks for the offer but nah. There's a good chance I'm just going to wind up cutting away most of the plastic on the back so it's more smooth and apply some 3M double sided adhesive that I have left. Anyways, now I'm back to wondering if I even do have that harness :iono:

Don't use double-sided tape, use a sealant such as a silicone waterproof caulk...

The sedans don't have the feed for the side turn signals. You would need to tap the turn signals on your headlights to feed them.

Ah... I had a bad feeling after removing part of the wheel well earlier. So should I just extend the harness that comes with the markers and tap splice into the green turn signal wires in the fuse box? Or would it be easier to splice into the red(?) wire that connects to the amber bulb at the back of each headlight.

... Or could there be an even easier way that won't make me want to tear my hair out?

Why don't you just get the Micro Image LED side mirrors? At least you won't need to drill holes and it will look professional

Oh I'll be getting those too in due time..

It's probably better it all goes down this way because when I get those I really would prefer to rewire the markers to come on and stay on when I turn the headlights on.

gosh, my apologies, I didn't get that you had a sedan either. Very sorry for confusing you!

Haha, it's ok.

Some advice on the exact wiring would still be quite appreciated.

The Green wire on the turn signal bulb connector is your + and any chassis ground point is your -.

Focus_Sh1ft

So one wire in the harness to tap the green headlight wire, and the other to attach to the chassis for grounding, right?
