I had a problem with the Yaris running badly after I changed the serp. belt.It was whining funny actually before I changed the belt.I tried some stuff, battery and other stuff but to no avail.
I went to the Toyota dealer and they said although they were not sure ,they thought I should replace the cam timing gear...I had the Yaris sitting for a month without a battery until today .. it runs but not good. On the way back home, 90 miles, the throttle was
racing at 4k and I couldnt get it to quit but it mellowed out after about a half hour. The CPU
does some self programming in the first 100 miles after you connect a battery to it..
anyway..
The manager gave me a paper that had to do with a known issue from Toyota that admitted
a problem with the VVTi in my model although it could also be the timing gear.It was a Technical service bulletin from February,2007. Of course
the dealer wanted me to do the 450$ job, I said forget it. Slimebags cant sell any cars so they are double scamming on the repair stuff....they will get it back someday......
I am going to play it like a bet and choose the VVTi actuator/solenoid. Its about 85$ right???
Can I buy this online or do I have to get it from Toyota?I took some pics here ,trying to
find out how you get the old one out and install the new one. There seems to be a small Torx screw or similar in there, look at the pics. anyone done this and comment..? if it still isnt right I'll bench it for the winter. The codes it threw were P0016 P0011 P0335.

If there's TSB it may still be covered by Toyota.
