Hello everyone,
I have a really fustrating problem.
Today i installed in my Yaris 2001 an aftermarket radio. Everything's working fine exept my antenna. I cant receive anything from FM/AM. When i'm searching for channels, it just dont work (he keeps searching).
The radio himself is working fine, i can listen to cd's or USB. (it's not a new radio, but he worked perfectly in my friend his car).
Thanks in advance!!

I don't know about 2001, but the current Yaris has a powered antenna. We had/have several threads in YW that talk about the 'extra' blue wire in the aftermarket wiring harness. This wire needs to be spliced into the head unit powered antenna wire.

hi,
thanks for your fast answer, there is one cable, it's a green one, that isnt connected because i dont know where it is for. The cable doesnt have power on it or something like that. I think maybe it is for when i put my lights on, the dashboard of the radio is also lighted up, but i'm not sure. How can i check where that cable is for ?
Thanks in advance

look up the manual for the pinouts on the back of your aftermarket head unit, or post a model number here with a picture of the wire you are talking about and I will see if I can find something for you

Hello,
All the wires from my aftermarket radio are connected, the one green cable that isnt connected is from my car himself (and what i dont know where it is for).

Hi,
i checked the cable with a friend, the green cable is for when i put my lights on, then the cable has power. So that wouldnt do it. Maybe it is the radio its FM tuner who is broken ?

Can you take a picture of the radio connector and the back of your OEM radio? On Toyota vehicles the antenna amplifier power wire is typically black.

Here you have pictures of my wire harness, i know, i dont have the connector anymore so i did it this way. Radio and speakers works fine so the problem isnt there :)

OK. The wire colors match what I see in the EWD for the 2001. The unconnected Green is the dimmer, as your friend mentioned. The 2001 Yaris/Echo had the antenna up front, so it doesn't have the antenna amplifier like the later years and 2nd generation do.
So, it sounds like either your antenna connector is not seated properly in the new radio, or the tuner is bad.

The antenna wire cant be placed wrong into the radio i think, so the most option is my radio tuner is bad.
MANY thanks to everyone who helped me! I check out for a new radio and post it here when i know more ;)
Thanks!

Not placed wrong - Check to make sure that it is pushed in all of the way.

Yup i checked that before, the antenna plug can't deeper in the radio.
Thanks :)
