Hi there. Upon returning from shopping, I noticed that I only had the key to my yaris -- not the alarm unlock button :) It somehow got torn from the keychain when I was sticking it in my jeans pocket..
(So I just unlocked the car, alarm blaring, and disconnected the alarm. How easy it was!)

Worse, the spare button was also nowhere to be found at home. It turns out if you do NOT have either remote, you have to replace the main unit as the unlock combination cannot be found.

The alarm unit also had a handy feature: Central door lock/unlock.
I don't care about the alarm, but the central lock/unlock was useful.

So I went to ebay and found something compatible..

Unfortunately it is not pin compatible with the old alarm (which had come factory installed with the car). So I have to match the wires one by one.

I disconnected the old alarm+central lock unit, and tried to install the new thing.
However, the instructions are really lame. I has different wiring charts for "car alarm out port", "negative trigger", "positive trigger", "positive-negative trigger" and "pneumatic lock" ..

I have no idea how to wire this thing - can anyone shed some light?

Many thanks! -turgut

Ummm, I'm pretty sure you can teach your OEM VIP Toyota alarm system to work with any OEM replacement remote.

You need to look harder for the steps to program in a new remote.

You shouldn't need to replace your alarm.

Toyota: I think I might just do that tomorrow!

Reeves: Many thanks - so you mean I should take apart a new remote, try the different combinations inside to see if one works with Yaris's old alarm?

Many thanks, -turgut
