Any opinion on Dynamat products?

Did anyone use dynamat soundproofing materials in their Yaris? I am considering full application of Dynamat Xtreme and Dynapad over it to reduce the road and engine noise. Will take the interior apart and apply to floors, doors, trunk, hood. There are some great reviews on the web, but before going into $350 expense wanted to check with this forum.

there are less expensive and more effective (opinion sorta) brands like raamat, second skin, edead etc etc etc.

Whatever you decide to go with make sure its a butyl based soundproofer and is at least 60mils thick.

I agree with the architect, especially when it comes to weight. Dynamat if I recall is almost twice as heavy as Raamat and really your weight should be in vinyl, not your viscoelastic deadening mat.

The site used to be just a comparison of top deadeners on the market - dynamat, raamat, b-quiet, etc. He did heat tests and deadening tests, and showed the results. Well now they sell stuff, and it seems like its more thorough than just slapping down an aluminum roll everywhere.

It seemed like they were in pursuit of a quality product before, and I think its a genius move from a marketing standpoint - there's literally thousands of forums out there that say things like "This is a really good site that you should check out if you wanna know about sound deadening - link" In fact if you search "sound deadener showdown" on yarisworld you'll see what I mean ;)

Dynamat seems to be easier to apply than the material listed on this site that requires glue, etc.

I just purchased a roll of B-Quiet, 50ft roll of butyl based mat. It had the highest score for effectiveness in a test (even better than Dynamat), but it is not the very cheapest product available. Cheaper than Dynamat, and just as easy if not even easier to apply.

So far I only applied it to the inside of my desktop computer case, and it made the fan noise go away considerably. Easy and clean, strong adhesive, fairly easy to cut, and I didn't cut my hands.
