Earlier this week I had to put my 17 year old dog (Ginger) down. I rescued her from the Human Society when she was 1 1/2. Her hearing was gone, her sight was going and arthritis got to the point where she didn't want to go for her daily walk. She used to go for rides on my bike, climb mountains, and travel on our vacations. Although her time had come it was still hard to do.

Good by my old friend. I'll miss you.

How sad!! Thank you for posting these beautiful pictures.

Losing a dog (a pet) is a terrible thing.

Looks like Ginger was loved, had a long and happy life. RIP

I lost a couple of dogs before. It hurts like h..l Very sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear that :(. I have 2 of my own that are old
age and I fear when "that day"
comes. My Aunt had to put down her dog a few months ago and it tore out a piece of her that belonged to "Sam" her great pyrenees
If anyone wants, you can read her story (as a fellow pet lover) on
my mom's website. www.pet-care-unleashed.com the article is called "till we meet again..."

Again I am so sorry for your loss.

putting down pets is rough. We had to put down our 9yr old Husky/wolf the day before thanksgiving. She would have seizures one day a month... like clockwork, been that way for over a year. Finally, in November, she started seizing, and never fully recovered... kept having seizures, even when doped up. After a day of being observed by the vet... time to put her down. Was by far the coolest dog i've ever known.

It sucks that dogs don't live twice as long.

geez, makes me think of how my dog is coming along, she is 14 and her 'alert' hearing is almost non-existent.

sorry for your loss

I feel for ya. Had to have my cat put down last year after 9 years together. It's hard.

Get yourself a new puppy. It helps.

I'll probably wait a year. Getting a new dog now would be like getting divorced and remarried in the same month.

When the time is right I would like to get another animal from the shelter.

Think about it though. It really does help.

you know whats funny? i told my mom that when our dog passed away. she said the same thing that she wanted to wait a while maybe a year and i said yeah youre prolly right. well unexpectedly a couple months later a run away chocolate lab puppy came up to the house. the owner did come around the block yelliing for her a while later and he told us that we could keep her. they were actually going to take her to a shelter because they couldnt afford to keep her. well my mom and i couldnt turn her away and end up god knows where. so we kept her and ive since moved out but that dog is my moms baby now.lol. it prolly is to soon right now but perhaps in a couple months do give it some thought:redface:

Sorry for your loss.

I know how you feel. I had put down my 14 years old yellow Labrador a few years ago.

Sorry for your loss. I'll never forget when my GF had to put her dog down, it hurt to see her hurting like that.
