View Full Version : so yeah, someone stole my summer wheels

Two days ago I noticed that my drag wheels with the neo gens were missing from my garage. Someone had taken them in the morning when my car was back in the shop and I took my girlfriends car. She was home when it happened but unfortunately no one saw anything so far. Sent notices to everyone I knew in town, and will be making a reward flyer to post up. One tire had a nail in the sidewall so whoever wants to use them will have to take them in to replace. I'm gonna give a flyer to each of the tire shops (small town) so they can call the police. No one in central WA sells my wheels or tires so if someone is using them it should be easier to know, but this really sucks.
Since getting them back might never happen, what's the lightest 17" wheel in black out there? Also might consider a 16" wheel too.

Were the wheels marked so you can identify them if you spot them

Damn Brandon. When it rains it pours, eh? First the crash, now this. Sorry to hear, and I hope you find them. Can you collect some insurance money otherwise (e.g. renter's policy)?

That is a nasty personal violation.
Someone walked into your place and quickly took that...How bad is the Meth problem out there? Do you do the track thing? Could be a boy racer that had an eye on your stuff. Someone's been watching you obviously. That freaks ME out...and I'm in Iraq! Well, it's time for a CCW and a sidearm.

Craiglist for sure.
Post up pictures if you have. and post up a picture on CL that says "stolen wheels"
when I buy used stuff on Craiglist and someone post a warning like that, I keep my eyes peeled, so maybe if you warn people, at least make selling them difficult for them.
Sorry man. Someone took my mountain bike from my garage some years back, they don't care if there is someone in the house. Grrr.

lol, kinda. I curbed one and took a 2" long piece off the lip of one rim. The odds of someone has this exact combo in this town is pretty much impossible, neither the tires or wheels are currently sold here.

I know, this sucks. If it wasn't for my car looking so damn good I would be super depressed. I never restarted my renters insurance when I moved here, so unless someone gets a lead, I'm at a total loss.

Deffinetly. I've been keeping an eye out, so far nothing. Did find a nice set that would work almost perfect for $300obo, but they are 7 spoke with a polished lip.

The meth problem is bad. Not close to as bad in Yakima, which is the meth capital of washington state. We did have an issue about a month ago where a neighbor two houses over walked around our house, paced in front of our garage, and stepped into our garage. I knew this because it had snowed that night and I traced the footprints. I didn't call the police because nothing was missing at all. I have no proof my neighbor did this, but his history has me suspicious. Were getting motion sensor lights installed, and I am getting back a small CCTV camera. Also going to setup a webcam to take motion sensor video of part of the garage and driveway from the window. Whats scary is that my gf was at the house. She has a baseball bat by the couch at least but hates guns.

I'd second this. I had some items stolen out of my car while it was parked at my house (touch screen CD player, cds, stock speakers, etc. - around $1,000 worth) and my renter's insurance paid for it since it was on our property.
But definitely sucks Astro!

Ryan, they stole the radio out of my 1987 Honda CRX 2 years ago, and the speakers I had bought at the flea market for $10. I'm surprised they left the car.
Lol, wow. At least mine had bait of a $400 touch screen CD player. That's just sad Tomato!

Sorry to hear that. But when you get a set of wheels you should write on them in permanent marker, where I've made red in the picture below, that they belong to you e.g. "These wheels belong to Fred Smith of 1 Yaris way, If anyone is getting new tyres put on these and there name is not Fred Smith they are stolen and I offer a reward of $500 call me on 0412345678"
You write that or similar on all your wheels. Eventually someone will take them to a tyre shop to get new rubber on them and bingo you get your rims back and you can have the person who has them charged for being in possession of stolen goods.
The thief never expects this. Not to mention if they are still attached to your car you'd get your whole car back too, even after insurance has paid you out (if you had insurance) Am I good or what?

^ That is a REALLY good idea. I am going to have that done before I put my wheels back on for the summer!

Got them back (no thanks to the cops of course)! Long story but turns out putting the flyers out at tire shops helped! The guy who bought them turned them in and even gave leads to whom stole them (well, the guy he bought them from). I'm gonna engrave the wheels and do the marker trick on the wheel I need to replace the tire on. I know they are heavy knock offs but they have great tires and do look really good on my car. Gonna buy the replacement tire next month and put them on!

Good to hear. Now...time to concentrate on who is looking at your garage!
So who turned out to be the one who stole them?
glad to hear you found them.
Stories like that make me want to install a motion sensor connected to a nuke. Now that would be theft deterrent.

The guy who turned them in was legit. STILL no word back from the police after multiple voice mails! I think its retarded that our department feels that the only officer who should be working on the case is the one who filed the report. Mine apparently took a permanent vacation
Stuff is getting moved into the off site storage unite 20 miles away, it's just been a slow process.
