Got brand-spankin' new (suspension) mods? Now's a great time to try 'em out! This is a pretty easy run with the exception of very few sharp corners. We'll be meeting at 10 AM. The more the merrier
Start:
Sandra's Mexican Grill
14670 Pipeline Avenue
Chino Hills, CA 91709
End:
El Torito / Souplantation
555 Pointe Drive
Brea, CA 92821
Runtime is about 20 mins one way according to Google.
Also let's gauge where everyone wants to eat. We can stay at El Torito or Souplantation, or we can drive back to Sandra's. It doesn't matter to me, though I've never heard of Sandra's so it might be something worth trying out. All are welcome

Cruising only. Best to save the F&F mentality for Auto-X. And The Vin Diesel bad-acting crap stays at home...

I for one am not afraid of a lil rain, hell I rode my Motorcycle to work EVERY day rain or shine for 5 years. But you never know with some people.
SilverBack
02-25-2010, 02:21 AM
Exactly, it's nothing. I've driven the treacherous Decker Cyn. (Westlake Village to Malibu through Santa Monica Mtns. and back) numerous times in torrents and pre-mudslide conditions. It was nothing, so this will be like kids jumping in sidewalk puddles...

Yeah but back in the day when I was a minitrucker, the slightest hint of rain and some peeps would not take out their "babies".

I avoid the rain for different reasons. Its dangerous out there.

Yeah we're gonna have to ease-off the "NFS Carbon" mentality bigtime for the rain. Let's just have a chilled run and get to know the road. Oh yeah and I recommend everyone check their treads today or tomorrow to get a better idea how slow to drive, just to be safe. See you Saturday!

The first time I drift my yaris was about 6 months ago if you lived in the LA area then you know were the 10 west meets the 710 north near Cal State LA and how it has that really big turn. Well anyways one day comming home from work it was about 11:15 pm. I was comming to the turn like always but I wanted to see if I can drift my yaris so I pulled the E-break and turn the wheel to the right and hit the gas hard. I think I was going about 55 or 60 mph on the turn the hole car turn side ways and I could hear the wheels. Man that was fun but I know I wouldn't do it again The yaris is to light of a car.

My car'll do that w/o yanking the e-brake. So scary =[

I've got work in the morning so probably won't make it... I'll try to see if I can get out early.
You guys are welcome to stop by my work after lunch if you need a final destination, it's just a couple of exits down the 57 South in Placentia:
1025-B Ortega Way
Placentia, CA, 92870

^Tried Turnbull Cyn. once a while back. Wouldn't mind doing it again. Set up the meet!
As for Asuza/GMR area we should wait til Summer. We're not gonna get too far with mudslides and snow right now.
Meantime good run today! Maybe we'll do this road again sometime in much drier weather.

I went to one in the OC. haha, my passenger wanted more.
Over by Cook's Corner, near the 241 and the 261. It was a nice run, though wet.
I'm thinking setting something up, with a BBQ after the morning run. Depending on number of people, of course.
I'll post pics of this meet, and some video I got as well, tomorrow. Too lazy, err, tired right now.
Turnbull was my first. Its too short after doing other canyons, its boring now. Besides its more a drift road and lots of traffic. Plus its hot as hell there so no one goes up too much anymore. I go to gmr a couple times a week. Front side is usually clean reguardless of rain or snow. I was there when it snowed once, a few weeks ago actually. Backside however gets terrible after it rains and ridge gets black ice. Tuna is also a great one to do as well, so I've heard.

We had loads of fun in Santiago. The dirt road was crazy nuts. Though, I don't suggest it with lowered and stiff suspension!!!!!!! SUCKS
Sorry I didn't mention it. It was a last minute, on the way home decision.
